Was married three & children christened there. Lovely fresco wall paintings make this church special. Part of a lovely village used in Midsomer Murders but this is a peaceful village. Saw a wedding there today which brought back memories of our lovely wedding day there...More

The fabric of the church building is in remarkable condition, and it is so evident to see that it is well looked after after in many ways. Lovely wall paintings that are facing you as you enter through the church door, and a perfect temperature of calm...More

Slowly but surely they are revealing the very old wall paintings on the interior walls of the church. Just imagine being in the same place where the paintings were created hundreds of years ago.

Worth having a look if you're in the area. The wall paintings are now fuzzy in places but it's a marvellously atmospheric building dating back to Saxon times. For the classical music cognoscenti there are really interesting concerts in October under the aegis of the...More

Just a total but tiny delight, set in a traditional Buckinghamshire village. Built in the late tenth century, a significant amount of the original frescoes survive and are a marvel to behold. The atmosphere in the church is palpable, with history everywhere. Even some showbiz...More

St John the Baptist in Little Missenden, what a jewel, what a gem, what a charming and interesting church. The interior is my favourite to date, built by the Saxon’s between 950-1050, added to by the Norman’s between 1120-1160, and later extended in the 13th...More

Lovely church, but tiny inside. However stick your head round the door to see that fairly rare sight - the remains of pre-Reformation painted walls. Quite a sight. Also, a scan of the graveyard reveals the graves of Churchill's personal secretary, and actors Michael Dennison...More

We love to see old churches with original wall paintings and this one did not disappoint. It was built in 975. The wall paintings are vibrant - at the nave you see the 13th century figure of St. Christopher and the martyrdom of St. Catherine...More

This building was an unexpected find on a lovely day's walk through Little Missenden. The wall paintings, the icons and the ambience were absolutely breath-taking. This building is incredibly ancient; built in 975 and housing some very old frescoes. There was just enough information given...More

This church is a wonderful example of Norman work. On the walls are some excellent medieval paintings and the arcades are fantastic examples of a very basic, early building. I really enjoyed visiting this church.
