Went there to have lunch on a beautiful St Patrick's day and enjoy the beautiful amenities. Within 5 minutes of being there, we were bombarded by a lady who said we couldn't play any music on our speaker (we had it at a 1/5 of the volume possible for it to exceed to). At this point she ended up questioning whether our water bottles were alcohol - which they were not. She ended up verbally kicking us out of the establishment after we showed her that we had no alcohol on us. Worst experience ever for St. Patrick's day. Thought I could have a fun day with a few friends. Don't ever go here and play any music or bring any refreshments! Even just water!! Horrible experience. Hope they change their ways after this...

Hello, we do not allow speakers, and this is posted on a few signs around the Island. We also cannot allow any outside alcohol. We take this very seriously because it could affect our license and have to ask about any situations that are suspicious. We also cannot allow people who don't treat our staff with respect to stay on property, as was the case here.

Views were amazing water was nice, owners .. workers not so much. Had vitamin water in a cup lady was rude assumed it was alcohol then took my cup and smelt it then continued to pour it out. On top of that the prices are high they want you to spend all your money. She then cussed and said “Get the F*** off my property” she also went and poured others cups out as well. I honestly had a great time there before but this time I simply won’t go back, the sign says treat our neighbors with respect and i wasn’t treated with respect at all. All due though if you wanna go , just they aren’t friendly people

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. At Wekiva Island, guests are only allowed to bring nonalcoholic drinks if they are renting a vessel or a cabana. If you are not, unfortunately, we don't accept outside food or nonalcoholic drinks. We take our policies very seriously, and we ask everyone to respect our policies. We appreciate you as a guest, and we hope you give us a second chance.

If you enjoy having a bite and a drink in a truly unique nature spot, then you'll enjoy this. They have plenty of chill places to enjoy nature, with a drink and some food as well. We were there on a Wednesday when they had some musicians performing very loosely but entertaining as well. I'm told they also have music on weekends. Can't wait to go there again.

We rented kayaks/canoes to go up river to the springs and loved it. They have a great dock to help people in and out of canoes/kayaks. We had a great time paddling up river and got out at the springs to hang out a bit and then made the trek back. Had a great lunch, very delicious. One of the highlights of our trip.

To expensive. You first have to pay a park entrance, after that you have to pay an outrageous amount to rent a canoe. $150 to be exact for 3 canoes. It is sad when trying to enjoy nature has become a business that cost you an arm and a leg.

Hi! We always aim to keep our prices in line with others on the river while still maintaining our operating costs and working to preserve the natural beauty of the river. In regards to our vessel rentals, our fee is for the entire day, so you can enjoy as much time on the river as you like for the price. We're proud to give the public an option to experience this special place. We appreciate your feedback and will share with the team. Thank you.

We rented a cabana and were very disappointed with our experience. We found the staff to be very rude and the place was filled with drunk people. This place is a bar, it’s not for families. We typically go to the state park and will stick with that. We will never return to this establishment.

We visited Wekiva Island and rented kayaks there and kayaked to Wekiva Springs. At Wekiva Island, they have nice restrooms. (We changed there to go kayaking), a bar, and it looked like a food truck. Places to sit and swim along the river, a volleyball court. Looks like it would be fun to even just stay and hang out there! We went on a Wednesday morning and it wasn’t super busy. Kayaking to the springs was beautiful! We saw lots of turtles, some alligators, and some wading birds. When you get to the springs, there is a place to dock your kayak and you can go over to the springs and swim. The water is super clear and a bit cold, but you get used to it! You can access the springs from the state park and get kayaks there as well. Someone mentioned they had gone the way we did because the current from the spring will push you back towards the island on the way back. The current wasn’t super strong, but it was easier on the way back. I highly recommended checking out the springs and going kayaking! We went with myself and husband and my 8 & 11 year olds. They had their own kayaks and did just fine!

We held a family reunion at Wekiva Island on 10/3. We rented a cabana, specifically the Sandbana, and had an amazing experience. It was the perfect atmosphere, a great cabana set up and we received attentive service from the bar throughout the entire day. Although the cabana came with a grill, we decided to not stress over cooking and enjoyed some delicious food from the food truck instead. I personally love and frequent Wekiva Island often but many of my family members were first time visitors who were very impressed and plan to return to this little piece of paradise. It was the perfect day of fun, sun, swimming, nature and we even got my 86 year old aunt to canoe! Thank you Wekiva Island!

There’s a horrible worker there (maybe racist). He singled out our party who had alcohol which was most of our first time visiting. He didn’t give us an opportunity to dispose of the alcohol and immediately kicked us out. He was very loud and disrespectful. Here’s the kicker nobody disputed his findings, but before we could comply with his very loud demands he yelled and said don’t even try to deny it (which we weren’t) “you guys are DONE LEAVE” which the other guest turned and looked. We never said a single word. We packed up and proceeded out. FYI we also purchased alcohol from the bar several times. This place only want your money spent there, but was not providing the same treatment to the other guest who had alcohol right next to us. After we left to the parking lot he then drove his cart around and watched us like we were criminals or something. We were all coworkers and was told about this place. The only good thing I can say was the experience we got on the water was great. The food was delicious as well. The guy was a heavy set white guy, kinda tall. I was truly thinking about recommending this place to my friends and family, but after this I will not.

Hello, we do take these types of reviews very seriously. For this reason, our ownership did take the time to review the video recording of this incident. Upon review, it seemed that your group was trying to hide the fact that you were pouring drinks from small bottles of alcohol. This is the reason our manager came over to chat with you. We have to be watchful of outside alcohol on our property because not only is it illegal for folks to consume outside alcohol, we will lose our licenses if we are caught allowing it. After our manager came over, the video shows somebody chugging a bottle of wine that was brought on property. This appeared to have been done in defiance, and he did get a little upset by this. We apologize that he got upset. We are reviewing our procedures involving guests with outside alcohol so we can ensure the Island is safe and fun for everyone, including involving outside security when necessary. If you feel we are misunderstanding what we are seeing in the video, we would be happy to have a further discussion with you, as again, we do take these situations seriously. Thank you.

Attended July 16, 2021 for a birthday party with family. Rented cabana was sufficient despite having a grill with a broken starter(but we brought matches) and having to keep asking people to leave from our area so we could dock our canoe and kayak and enjoy our beach area. My biggest gripe was the men's room. Totally disgusting like it was never cleaned. Outhouse toilets were probably cleaner. I guess management doesn't think this reflects on the cleanliness perceptions of the other public outlets. Definitely would not return unless bathrooms were upgraded.

Hi there, we would like to apologize for your recent experience at Wekiva Island. We want all of our guests to enjoy the Island and its facilities on every visit, and that includes clean facilities. We're sorry we missed the mark. We'll discuss this with our operations team and work to make sure it doesn't happen again. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you give us another chance.

Hi there! As long as you have a cabana reservation, you are allowed to bring a cooler with food and non-alcoholic drinks. Thanks!
Written 18 July 2019
Yes you can bring your own food into Wekiva Island. There is also a food truck with a pretty good variety. They have grills in the Cabanas. You just cannot bring in your own alcoholic beverages.
