We make it a point to visit here every time we stay in Longboat Key. We ride bikes & park them there and walk the short trails. Good for children 4 & up I'd say. Not lots to see but easy walk on hard sandy...More

This reserve gave us a nice 45 minute (return) walk out to a lookout across to Sarasota. We saw several birds - great egret, osprey, varous shorebirds. It's partly shady and partly open, and there are seats along the route, including at the main lookout.

The reserve provides an opportunity for a quick walk (20-30 minutes) amongst the mangroves. It is a little isolated, but worth finding. There are great views of Sarasota.

Anywhere near water is always a win for me, but I thought the Joan M. Durante Community Park a few miles away was nicer and offered more variety as far as habitat, and birds which is what I was looking for.

I live next door so I am a bit biased. Someone long ago had great foresight to set this land aside and keep it in its natural state. Immediately after you cross the bridge onto LBK it is on the right. Park across the road...More

We walked the area with another couple early in the day. It was cooler, and the animals, birds, and even a dolphin were out. It's good to get some excercise and understand the local ecosystem.

I've always seen people in this area and wanted to be there! So much action happening on either side of the bridge. Today, I brought a chair and sat near the water and watched my favorite Floridian bird, the pelican, hunt for lunch. It was...More
