Was on our way up to Islamorada and stumbled upon the Pigeon Key visitor center. It's inside an old rail car. While browsing the gift store we noticed a tour to Pigeon Key. Not knowing what this was we asked the worker and she told us it was the small island under the seven mile bridge. It is only accessible... More

If you decide to take this trip, hopefully Eric will be your tour guide. Eric is passionate, he transports you back in timeto beginning of contruction of the railroad. Remember to reserve your departure, and to bring food and beverages. We took the 10 am tour on 27 January. The crew on the ferry made you feel safe and comfortable.... More

We went to Pigeon Key on the tour that leaves Marathon, and you get your tickets in an old train car from Flagler Railroad days. It turned out to be a great excursion, and took about 2 hours total. A nice boat ride to Pigeon Key, and a wonderful tour guide to tell us about the history of the railroad... More

I chose this picture because it was probably the. Most spectacular vision i had. When it was complete it... More

Every time I drive across the 7 mile bridge I see this small island 2 miles from the Marathon end and wonder. So finally I took the ferry over to check it out and had a wonderful visit. At $12 pp you get a short lecture about the island and then a 1 hour guided tour and some free time.... More

The ferry takes about 15 minutes and you're in a different world. Check schedules and arrive early. They don't take reservations. The tour takes about an hour and there is time after to wander or snorkel (especially if you already have suits on). Snorkeling is okay and easy right around the dock. There are good bathroom facilities. The tour guide,... More

You don't need to spend more than an hour and a half to see everything. There are a lot of older houses with history but the only one you can go into is the museum. There was no guide available on the day we went and so our information came mostly from the handout and the information in the museum.... More

Pigeon Key is one of my favorite places to visit in the Keys and it just gets better every year. The boat staff that take you there and back are friendly and knowledgeable. The guided tours by volunteer historians are interesting. But the best part is swimming and snorkeling around this little island. We saw numerous Queen conchs, a HUGE... More

Take a trip to Pigeon Key and learn about the railroad employees who called Pigeon Key home. The short boat ride is fun and the tour is very informative.
