About
The Oldest House in South Florida is located at 322 Duval Street in Key West. The house and gardens are open to the public from 10 am to 4 pm every day except Tuesday and Wednesday. Staff and volunteering docents are available to provide historical information about the house and family, and to answer questions. The house features family portraits and original furnishings, as well as other period pieces, ship models, and documents telling the story of old Key West. In the rear of the house is a spacious, peaceful garden, where benches invite you to sit and reflect. There, you will see the only surviving Cook House in South Florida.

Neat old house and backyard

Visit it for it's history and decor. Was free with donations when I visited before corvid. Only open daylight hours. Suppose to be haunted. Super easy to find, just north of the corner of Eaton on Duval Street. Short visit.

A good tour. Our guide Saud was very knowledgeable and friendly. Well preserved historic home. Interesting stories associated with the house. Cost now is $10 per adult

Fabulous tour!

This is truly a hidden gem in Key West. My husband and I stopped in first thing after we landed, and we are so glad we started here! John gave us a wonderful tour, and I highly recommend it. We loved it!

Only $5, super cool and super short. It was neat to see and hear, but they don't let you on the second floor which is weird - they obviously have people coming every day, why wouldn't they set up the upstairs as well? Still very cool stuff inside and it is cool to see the set up. People working/volunteering are great!

This we happened upon one of the ghost tours that we took. I never heard of it before and our ghost tour guide taught us so much history about it and it was very interestingly. You really have to pay attention to what you’re being told because you’ll find yourself walking around the next day and not remembering exactly what happened there so my only complaint would be I wish that they had given you a pamphlet telling you what went on On each stop!

Oldest house/Key West Florida

Beautiful structure in the heart of Key West. Built 1829, was moved to its current location at 322 Duval Street shortly after being built in a different location of Key West. Amazing place for historical buffs, or just a nice respite from the noise of lower Duval. After entering the gorgeous yard/garden you step back in time to a much more simple, time/existence. Amazingly the noise is completely drowned out while strolling the garden as well as observing the brick oven, that is adorned with period objects such as rolling pins, and utensils. Before entering the home, to your immediate left is a small room that contains original shipwrecker log books written in native tongue, dates, bounty found (it should be noted that not all treasures found were actually logged).
After exiting, you are now able to enter the beautifully maintained home of the Seaman, his wife and daughters. If you love history, this home will satisfy your curiosity with period furniture, baby stroller, and even a derby worn by the owner.
The treasure has instituted a nominal 5$ admission charge, but by far well worth it. Take time out from your stay to enjoy this beautiful property. You will not be disappointed!

Step Off Duval and Back in Time

I can't believe I had never been here before as its right on Duval. This is an interesting step back in time with a large relaxing courtyard that includes an original cookhouse. We especially likes the interesting items in the old Captain's quarters. Well worth a visit

Neat historic place right in the middle of things!
Mar. 2020
This was a self-guided tour. You are only allowed to visit the rooms on the first floor, so it didn't take much time. It was neat to see the old furnishings and relics from back in the day.

Our tour took less than a half hour, so it's a good break between more time consuming activities.

Just like many around
Jan. 2020
This is a classic Key West/Caribbean style house you can see hundreds such around. This one is supposedly the oldest one and it's right on the main Duval St.
We checked it from outside, took a photo, and really had no interest going in, as we saw many such 19c historic houses all over the US.
Moreover a local there told us it was free to enter until recently, when they realized they could make money of it so started charging.
