My wife and I recently made a return visit to the Hemingway home and museum. Always a great step into the past and life of Ernest Hemingway. The docents/guides are well informed, but if you take the guided tour, take another pass through on your own to absorb all of the great exhibits and ambiance.

Took the docent tour of the Hemingway house one afternoon. Nice escape from the Duval Crawl. Our guide gave us a brief glimpse into the man, his writing, his lifestyle and his problems. Wonderful relics are still in the home along with photos of his famous boat and fishing excursions. The house is well kept and has around forty to... More

Well worth the pricey admission (no discounts offered). After the guided tour, you're free to roam the property at leisure, a nice change whereas most house museums whisk you out as early as possible. Go as early as possible for a "less crowded" visit. We parked on the meter on Duval St. Only downer was the sourpuss cashier who needs... More

Really interesting could have been great if tours were smaller. The mass amount of ppl cannot fit on each room while touring. Tour guide was very knowledgeable but very annoyed with amount of ppl

You can either go through the home by yourself or take the guided tour. We took the tour and it was very interesting and knowledgeable. You won't get all the info if you go alone. Great for cat lovers.

Our second visit and we are still learning interesting info on an interesting guy! The tour guide was so knowledgeable and entertaining. Love the cats laying and strolling around, all have names and live there. You can stay as long as you like after the tour, have another look around! I would go again on another key west visit!

As an American novelist! this was a great experience to see the home of a famous author. To imagine his literary style was influenced by this area. It motivated me to go home and refresh my reading of "The old man the sea, The have and have nots, and For whom the bells toes, to name a few. Many cats... More

This tour was great. Beautiful home and very interesting history of the area and of Hemingway. Our tour guide was funny and informative. Reasonably priced and well worth the 30 min guided tour.

Thank you very much for your excellent 5-star review! As a Pennsylvanian, you may know that Penn State has done tremendous research on the “Hemingway Letters” project. Dr. Sandra Spanier, Professor of English and General Editor of the Hemingway Letters Project, has published two volumes of The Letters of Ernest Hemingway. Everything you ever wanted to know about the Hemingway... More

This was a very interesting look into the life of Hemingway. Our tour guide gave an in-depth history of Hemingway, his family, and his many cats. After the house source were given a tour of the gardens which we then explored ourselves.

Thank you very much for your excellent 4-star review! Being from Massachusetts, you may be aware that the JFK Library in Boston houses the largest collection of Hemingway documents and photos, it is a great resource for those studying the details of his life. You can do a search for Hemingway data at JFKlibray.org. Everything you ever wanted to know... More
