I was desperate to see manatees in this area of Florida so the demonstration included in the price made it worthwhile for me. The volunteer demonstrator was informative and funny. Don't miss the underwater observatory and take the boat ride from the route 19 entrance.

This is one of our favorite Florida State parks. It's an old Florida tourist attraction now owned and beautifully maintained Florida State Park. There are walks around the river surrounded by flora. Manatees from the wild are allowed in to these warmer waters during cooler...More

I went with my husband & my in-laws. Be sure to catch the Manatee show and the Alligator/Hippo show. Winter seems to be the best time to see the manatees since they all come to this river for the warm water from the natural spring....More

Visited here 34years ago and remember how awesome it was to go underwater and see fish 🐟 swim bye. Guess what? Still as awesome now. Saw huge amount of snook/snapper/jack/mullet and sheepshead moving around. 3 manatees presses up against glass was a bonus..Must see for...More

Homosassa River joined the modern world at the worst time. Frenzied property development in 1920s Florida monetized mother nature by turning natural beauty into commercialized hotels. Later development added exotic animal training for movies and tourists. But in the 1980s the state rescued this natural...More

The "zoo" portion was not exciting, but little kids liked it. There were manatees in the river and so that was cool.

This was the first time we'd vacationed in Florida in the winter so I was very excited to see manatees. We got there fairly late in the afternoon, around 3pm. I didn't realize the boat didn't run 'til the last ticket was sold, and we...More

We were late in Homosassa, but still managed to catch the last mermaid show of the day. It‘s really amazing that the mermaids could swim under water such long, could speak, dance, play ...etc. The known story still touched my heart.... then there was a...More

We ate our picnic lunch under a shelter which covered 6 picnic tables. It is located just off the parking lot of the main entrance, near the beginning of the paved tram trail. Loved the spot.
