I absolutely love this state park. There is so much to do here, whether you are here for a day or camping for the week. There are hiking trails, including a tower to climb for great views of the Intracoastal and the ocean. There are kayak, canoe, and motor boat rentals, which you can take to Trapper Nelson's home (an... More

I've lived in Hobe Sound for over seven years, and while I have driven past this state park countless times, I had never been in! My husband and I finally visited for the first time yesterday and were amazed at what we found there. Jonathan Dickinson State Park is the largest state park in Florida. With its many trails, campsites,... More

Spent 3 nights here in a cabin (modular home) and loved every minute of it. Calm quiet and comfortable although the "cabins" are definitely showing wear. The rangers were friendly and helpful and both the kitching trail and the river trail were beautiful though you need to do the latter at low tide. Only negative was that the man working... More

My son and I rented a kayak and had a wonderful afternoon exploring the area and saw a manatee and alligator and lots of exotic birds...also available is horseback riding and hiking and biking and exploring. A large and still wild place with a minimal entrance fee. Worth a morning or afternoon to see what "Old Florida" looked like...

From the Badger state, my wife and I had driven past this park several times on our way from PBI to Palm City, FL to visit family. Not too impressive from the interstate, we decided to make a visit, and are glad we did, We wanted to take a River tour, and chose the Trapper Nelson version. Two or three... More

Camp ground is rather open not many trees to shade. Hurricane's over the years apparently have destroyed the trees, although no effort has been made to plant new trees to generate shade in the future..a bit puzzleing. Park often vacant in the hot summer months, full in the winter months. Cabins are nice, not really "cabins" more like little trailers... More

We camped at Pine Grove campground. Very nice with full hookups. No shade as this is newer campground. Park has hiking, biking(including off road trails), kayaking, boating, fishing, observation tower, and visitor center. Close to nearby Hobe Sound and Jupiter.

It is hard to give the whole park a bad rating because of one problem so that is why I gave it three stars. Love the park and atmosphere. However the boat rental situation is something that they are just asking for trouble. First off they don't take reservations for the power boats. They only have five and its first... More

The best thing about this park is that the Loxahatchee River that runs through the park. And you can rent a canoe or kayak to spend a couple hours or more on the river. Usually there are lots of water birds, sometimes a turtle or more, and always there's an alligator. They also have lots of bike trails from moderate... More
