We had a nice time with our visitors at the wildlife refuge. The kids loved the interactive animal exhibits and the staff was really friendly and informative. There is a short trail that leads down the waterway and we saw several people coming and going with fishing poles along the way. The kids also got a kick out of the... More

Accessing Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge, or the 'Blowing Rocks' Preserve along this narrow residential roadway offers a glimpse of 'Real Florida'. The two preserves are at opposite ends of the roadway and each is worth driving to. This venue has a booth to take $5/ car entry fee, but a Federal Access Pass allows free entry. Wild and natural, there... More

There is a really nice easy to walk nature trail loop that takes you on a scenic exploration of the surrounding natural habitat with easy to follow laminated guide cards at the entrance you could walk along and actually see everything on the card. I believe there were approximately 16-20 stops on the nature trail. Total distance was probably less... More

The refuge is at the very end of Jupiter Island and has an entrance fee so the beach is never crowded and very clean. Very long so also good for a walk or run.

There isn't a lot of acreage at the Refuge, but some very nice sight lines, varieties of plant life and trails that amount to about 2.0 miles altogether. Also nearby is the gorgeous Sound, and if you're willing to drive just a few miles further, Juniper Island on the other side of the Sound that has beautiful beaches on the... More

Nat'l beach is more "rustic" than city beach but a refreshing place for a walk. Fishing boats float off shore. Birds every where. Only negative is that the port a johns were filthy.

We needed to put some things behind us. Driving towards home we saw a familiar notification of the next exit on interstate 95. Rather than passing the exit as usual, we took the turn. We did not deviate from the route. It was just a straight road through banyan tree leaves forming a canopy over our car. It ended up... More

In Hobe Sound, the nighttime sea turtle nesting walk is done on the public beach Thursday and Friday nights. There are also two other organizations in the area that do similar sea turtle nesting walks: the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Centre and Florida Power and Light. These tours are family friendly and very popular so book one as soon as you... More
