The Railroad Museum of South Florida,Inc operates the Lakes Park and Gulf Railroad and Railroad Museum in Lakes Regional Park in south Ft Myers Florida. Lakes Regional Park is a Approx 300 Acres in size, and is part of the Lee County Parks and Recreation Dept of Lee County Florida. The property was originally an old rock quarry which has been reclaimed by Mother Nature and transformed into a waterfront wonderland for all of Florida's natural beauty! The Lakes Park and Gulf Railroad operates daily train rides along a 1 1/2 mile track which meanders around and between the many lakes, passing small villages and thru a tunnel. The Lakes Park Enrichment Foundation was created to monitor the over all future of the park.

Some advertisement shows a big train but it is a little train that takes you around the park. A great, fun way to see it and all the beauty that the park has to offer.

Great value and information. Perfect for children under 6..or older. Huge playground and lots of walking trails. The only suggestion I would have is for th3 train driver to dress the part. I understand it’s volunteers doing much of the work, so this might not...More

Nice park with great equipment. Nice train ride that even the adults enjoyed. Had to make the kids leave for lunch but will go back again when we are in the area.

Train ride was fun it took you through miniature villages of old Florida and displayed the population back in the 50's. Sure a lot more folks here now. The museum although small was quite interesting.

Stopping into this museum while you await the train ride at Lakes Park is great. There's a small train running around the top of the walls and some good memorabilia of trains with a small gift shop.
