Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

Owners advertised a beach really close to their home but we were surprised at how nice it was. Great sunsets, nice beach and fairly quiet. Parking somewhat difficult but ok. Mangroves surround it.

This beach is surrounded by mangroves instead of houses. You can walk along the beach and then run into an estuary. The beach is not groomed, but in the morning, during peak season sometimes I was the only one there. Parking is two dollars/hour either on the street or at the parking lot where you can rent kayaks for the... More

Bunche beach was once the segregated beach. Now that we've evolved, it's been taken over by the Lee County Parks system. There's free parking, 'facilities' within walking distance and B-E-A-Utiful Sunsets!

I hesitate to write this because I don't want anyone else to go to this beach. It was beautiful! Sparsely attended, wide and long, offered kayaking in the canals, clean.

Nice shelling beach at low tide. I always find King Crowns. I wouldn't swim there as there are some sharp rocks. You can see Ft Myers Beach from there. No restrooms but up the way there is a boat landing which has them. Nice birding and great sunsets.

Very popular with the locals, but parking is at a premium. If you don't get one of the 30 spaces, you have a long walk.

I visited the beach on a Monday afternoon in January. Tide was just starting to come in. With the low tide, the beach is very long, lots of shore line. Nice Gulf view. There were very few birds when I was there but there were enough to provide something natural to watch. I only saw about 20 people on the... More

My husband, 3 year old, and I were walking back from the sandbar and in the large amounts of seaweed along the beach was a floating can of Off Bug Spray and an INSULIN NEEDLE! Be very cautious on this beach.

The first day that we visited Bunche Beach the wind was blowing in from the Gulf at about 40 MPH. The beach was virtually impassable and we saw very few birds. A couple of days latter, we came back and found a broad beach with a nice variety of birds out on the flats exposed by the low tide. The... More

A good beach with tough parking. A good view of the bridges and a long shoreline. Could have more parking for a better time.
