We absolutely loved our time spent on the beach. It was clean with areas to rinse off upon leaving. There were a lot of picnic tables and grills to use. You could also pay to rent chairs for a reasonable price.
We will be back!
The beach and water themselves are beautiful. Unfortunately people fail to pick up after themselves and They left garbage and cigarette butts on the beach. My child continually tried to eat them. However if you look past that the beach is perfect.
This long stretch of beach is clean and great for taking long walks. Nice soft sand! There are plenty of bars and restaurants across the boulevard, along with pay parking lots. Be sure to spend time here when in Ft. Lauderdale.

Being a Miami native and having lived in Ft. lauderdale for 30 yrs, I can say that the storms when we lived there were usually in the afternoon and did not last long. In fact you could almost set your watch by their predictability. I lived on Las Olas Blvd, very near the beach and could see the storms over the ocean. The rain was very heavy most of the time, but passed quickly. Then the sun would come out along with the high humidity usually in the 90% range. That was the weather pattern in the summer. The one thing you need to be cautious of is lighting. Florida is the lightning capital of the US. Read up on the precautions you should take. The beach is dangerous in a storm. Also, keep informed about hurricanes. Mid August is the height of hurricane season, but they can hit anytime during the season June to Dec. You must be prepared if an evacuation is ordered. Take plenty of sunscreen and use it religiously. If you don’t mind heat and humidity you should be fine.
