A surprise to see such a different and restored home in the middle of Ft Lauderdale. The family was into collections of everything. Our guide made the whole visit. I neglected to get his name, but he was very well informed and witty.

This well conducted guided tour will give you a look into early Ft. Lauderdale history. I grew up 10 miles north of the Bonnet House and this was my 1st visit. Better late than never

This is one of the rare, remaining original, old Florida mansions, but it is also so much more. The house was designed, built and decorated by Frederic Clay Bartlett. The rooms are beautiful and the grounds are lush and gorgeous. The guided tour is an...More

Got a small insight to this place on our Segway tour. It was a quick stop. Would be a place to come back to and tour more throughly.

35 acres of protected land along the heart of A1A in Fort Lauderdale is truly an oasis in the middle of condos and chaos. I truly appreciate the generosity of the visionary Bennets when they donated their home and property so that it would remain...More

This trip, I decided to check out some Fort Lauderdale history. Coming from the northeast, it seems strange that “historical” to south Florida folks means less than 100 years old. But when you consider that, before World War II and before air conditioning, there was...More

The grounds are spectacular in a tropical sense as are the several ponds complete with Swans. The actual house may seem primitive for a multi-millionaire to live in; however, remember the period and that this was one of many houses and was considered a Tropical...More

Bonnet House is known for their orchids collection. Just do not go on their orchids tour (20$ per person) in November. The flowers were not in bloom. In general, it is challenging to specify bloom seasons for orchids. Some... More
