- SambaSanibel Island, Florida762 contributionsLeft Us Wanting More of the Same!We attended the Jesse Cook concert in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center last night. He and his group of musicians were utterly phenomenal. As usual. But it was our first time at this theatre and the first time at the Broward Center. Like the concert itself, both the Center and the theatre get very high marks. Surrounded by the glitz and glamor of the river front development, the Center feels and looks alive and inviting. The theatre has very comfortable seating, good visibility and superb acoustics. We are from the Gulf side of Florida and attend concerts in Naples at Artis and other venues with some frequency. Those have all been very pleasant experiences. But there is an electricity at the Broward Center that is unique and much appreciated. We can't wait to return.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 January 2024
- Meg LLittleton, Colorado2 contributionsQuality production and venue.A fantastic venue to enjoy an evening of opera. Parking is easily accessible. The staff are very organized. I would sit closer next time for opera. They don't use microphones, which is great, but a little soft for far away seats.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 March 2024
- Mk31Pompano Beach, Florida671 contributionsNice for shows and eventsThis is a nice venue for musical shows of all kinds, including musical theater, bands, and orchestras. I also enjoy that gala events are hosted here, as those are always fun with great food. Parking is a little spotty at times, although the valet can be great for events.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2024

What a wonderful concert with Ambrosia, John Ford Coley, Peter from Player, and the last performer slips my mind, but it was an awesome concert. Hearing the songs that I've listened to for many years, and being in such an awesome Performing Arts building. The Performing Arts Center was a fabulous place and the music sounded great! It was a pleasure to be able to see these bands perform in person. I wouldn't have missed it for anything! What a great night!

If you are planning to attend an event at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, here are two pieces of advice. 1: Get there early. Parking is a nightmare and lots of shows have production holds that staff are mandated to follow. If you are not in your seat when the performance begins, you will be held out. 2: If you are unable to walk stairs, do not, and I repeat, do not buy tickets in the balcony. Elevators only go to the lower balcony but to get to all rows in the balcony you must walk up stairs. Staff will not relocate you to another floor but will, instead, send you to the box office to purchase a ticket if you wish to sit on another floor. I suppose that’s fair since seats in the orchestra cost more than seats in the balcony and why should people who paid for seats in the orchestra be penalized because people who bought seats in the balcony do this a lot only to score a better seat. If you are elderly, had a recent hip replacement, or have ADA accessibility issues, do not buy tickets in the balcony. It’s just not fair in lots of ways.

The most recent visit by my wife and myself was last night. Riverdance performed. It was great. We loved it. Many people in the audience wore covid masks. Parking was a problem. We parked at a garage across the street, where it cost us $15 to park our car.

Being subscribers for years, we were thrilled to return to see Broadway plays at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. They have an excellent protocol for all attendees.
The venue is great with a very sound system and comfortable seats.

We have been season ticketholders for the Broadway series forever. Fortunately, we have tickets in Row J, sometimes 6 or 8 rows from the stage depending on the performance.
Very good sound system and comfortable seats.
Located in downtown Ft Lauderdale with its own parking garage. Tons of very good restaurants nearby.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" could easily have been the best performance I have seen in my life. The actors were all AMAZING full of passion and no one missed a beat. We were lucky enough to be sitting in the front row and could see their tears and their angst. I have loved this story forever, but this interpretation beats the book and beats the movie hands down. Richard Thomas just killed it. His energy and his ability to transform was most impressive . I'd say John Boy still has it, and still gives it his all! Thank you to the cast and thank you to Broward Center for bringing this gift to us.

"Great Venue"
Went to see a musical at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Very good sound system and seats. We have been season subscribers for years.
The only negative is the rest rooms, too small for the size of the theater.

The theater is beautiful and well located. The problem was the management’s decision to keep the air temperature extremely cold. We had front row seats and were freezing cold even with sweaters and a sweatshirt. People around us were cold and even the ushers were saying they were cold. Unfortunately, we preferred to leave at intermission instead of continuing to shiver. We have seen a lot of Broadway. This is the coldest we have ever been in any theater ever. The management could save a fortunate on air conditioning instead of selling pins to raise money.

Saw a great show called Tina and Tonys wedding, it was interactive and a lot of fun with great cast.
The only downside was the ridiculous prices for drinks. Beer was $14.00 and wine was $24.00 a glass.

My seats are in the back center balcony. They were a gift. Will it be ok ??
Written 10 January 2019
agree with others. The stage appears somewhat small from there but you will have clear view and good acoustics. Bring opera glasses if you want to see more details.
Written 21 January 2019
I believe the website has a seating chart which probably indicates obstructions. Otherwise I suggest you call the Broward Center customer service department.

Hi,
I'm wondering about the typical/appropriate dress for an opera showing here. I'm attending La Boheme tonight with my girlfriend. She is used to going to the opera in New York, but has never been to the Broward Center, and nor have I. She says that she would typically wear a long gown in New York, but isn't sure if this would be appropriate or typical at this venue.
I greatly appreciate any feedback.
Thanks for your help!

It is not as formal as the New York opera scene but elegantly semi formal would be appropriate as men usually wear suits (older gents may wear a tux), Ladies will be glamorous regardless what they wear. Enjoy!

Anyone know of hotels within walking distance or a very short drive of the Broward Center? Thank you!
Written 19 January 2017
Depending on your financing, the Riverside hotel is probably the nicest walkable hotel. I believe there's also a nearby Travel Lodge, or you can check AirBnB.

I would like to know which seats have the best view? I live in WPB & I am not too familiar with this venue's seating chart.
Written 27 December 2016
All seats are great, but I don't think the seats on the side balconies require a bit of stretching the neck!

Hi there, anyone would like to tell me what are better seats in the Au-Rene theater, the
Zone A (BCPA) Orchestra Box B (seats B5,B7) or
Center Orchestra Zone A-1, seats M-109, M-110?
I appreciate your recommendation.Thank you.
Written 26 June 2015
We have sat in the orchestra box seats a few times but we prefer the main seating area. If the seats you are describing are the loge box seats on the sides of the theater then I would recommend against any of the seats in the loge boxes and stay in the main seating areas on the floor and the tiers. No matter what seat is selected in the loge boxes, there is a blind spot for the stage. All other seats in the theater are great. The sight lines are excellent. We usually sit in the main area because of this.

Any locals know if the Broadway Series is doing the 'lottery' this season? They just removed the phone number for the Box Office (actual human beings who work at the theater) in lieu of the anonymous off site Ticket Master Call Center, so no one to ask anymore.
Written 16 January 2015
I don't think they are offering... this year. Try calling Sun Sentinal office, and ask for entertainment. They are up to date.
