We arrived at Wadi Ghul about 11am. We would have liked to do the walk, but didn't have the time. Another couple had arrived before us and were driving a sedan. On this occasion they were ok, but in slightly different conditions could have faced problems. There was a woman at the beginning/end of the trail selling cold drinks and... More

It is better to drive 4wd car for this destination. Eventhough We saw many sedan also going up to the top. It is better to stay on the mountain. There are many accomodations available there. We didn't book it that time and We felt regret that. This since it is enjoyable there with cool temperature. It is very good for... More

I booked a 4WD with driver for a full-day exploration of Bahla, Jabrin, Jebel Shams/Wadi Ghul and Jebel Ackbar. I enjoyed the latter two the most. Jebel Shams is the highest point in Oman, and Wadi Ghul is a deep canyon that reminds me of Grand Canyon. The drive up here is not too bumpy, only the last stretch is... More

Accessible by even a sedan, this amazing place is a must visit if you are in Oman. We visited the surroundings by our 4WD and took a short hike to W6. We were a family of four having children at age of 11 and 5.

Make sure you do Balcony walk: contrary to some suggestions, it is not difficult/dangerous at all if you are reasonably fit. Scenery is gorgeous.

a perfect getaway from the city far -far away from the civilization, see the Nature's best mountain design, enjoy the chill of the cold mountain nights in the land of the desert and rocks, witness the 1st light that touch oman as you sip on the hot coffee and enjoy the overnight burning coal of last night's BBQ. A place... More

Incredible to believe that this exists in the Arabian peninsula. Take a 4 x 4 though, it allows you to explore the whole area. Oman is one of those best kept secrets, if you are in the region you need to make the effort to go.

I would recommend to by the book Oman Off-Road which nicely illustrates all the possible routes in Oman when you have 4x4 car. I could even add that this is the only reasonable way to become familiar with these beautiful country. In couple of places they WILL NOT let you in if you do not have 4x4 car.
