Florida's best comprehensive collection of Florida's older art is housed in a remarkable airy building that fans affectionately call "the barn." While "Florida art" might bring to mind glitzy images of non native palms in saturated colors against a psychedelic sunset, you won't find that here. This carefully chosen collection represents the best in Florida art. As well as masterful landscape, the people and architecture of...More

Amazing collection of Florida art in a lovely Florida style building. A great deal of thought has been given to the display of art works as well as to information about them.

I visited with a group from the Appleton Museum. The outside has a Florida style look not a traditional museum. The artwork is beautifully displayed and not crowded. It's all about Florida from the historic landscapes of Florida adventurers to a grouping of hurricanes and...More

An incredible collection of Florida inspired artwork. The facility is the perfect host to so many beautiful pieces. Definitely worth visiting if you are vacationing in the area or if you are a resident. It was a great way to spend a chilly afternoon.

No paintings for sale, just a beautiful collection. They may give you some tips for galleries. You should try Jeff Ripple gallery in micanopy. He shows art at winter park art festival and has a website.
