The views from the pier are amazing! So many beautiful pictures! Did not hang out at the beach, only went to see the sunset! Long drive but the sunset is worth it!

It is Dirty, with little bugs, birds run the place! Fishing pier and trail were nice. Beach was muddy by water. Bathrooms not that bad, though.

We had a couple hours to spare in the area and took the teens to this little beach. It was delightful for wading (no waves) and walking the boardwalk through the trees to scout the area from the fishing pier. Bathrooms were clean. Wish we...More

If your looking for a nice beach walk don’t go here. Pretty small. Parking at $5.00 was reasonable. If you have little kids this is a nice safe beach but we like to take Long Beach walks and you can’t here.

Fort Island Gulf Beach was a nice stop while in Crystal River. The beach is nice and it makes an excellent place to get pictures of a west coast sunset.

I love beaches. A LOT. (Maybe that's why I moved to Florida 3 years ago? :) ) Fort Island Gulf Beach is no Clearwater. It just isn't. What it is, though, is FREE. And very close to Crystal River activities (like the manatee tour we...More

We saw dolphins feeding right off the beach in the grassy area. It was a nice walk on the beach. It was raining so we did not go into the water.

A 9 mile drive to the Gulf of Mexico from Crystal River. Very nice little beach, picnic areas and a fishing pier.

Yes many people have tents up! Just be aware don't go to deep with stakes. This is a swim hole that was a swamp and they put 4 sand over it. Also make sure you take shower after as signs say so you don't carry any bacteria... More
