We got to the beach around 2:30 and it wasn't very crowded. The sand was soft and cool. The water was warm but murky. This wouldn't be a place to snorkel but was nice for swimming. The kids had a good time playing in the...More

We love this little beach. It is clean (no dogs allowed), with a Sandy bottom when you are in the water. There are a few shelters w/tables and shade (if you get there early enough to get one). If you go during the week, it...More

Have enjoyed this beach several times and I'm almost reluctant to share it. It's a quiet family type beach. It's clean, and the water is relatively calm. There are vendors available on the weekends. The bath house is adequate and the outdoor shower gives you...More

I had never been to this beach before and liked the family atmosphere, cleanliness and the fact that is was not overly crowded for a holiday weekend!

Fort Island Gulf Beach (nothing like an ocean beach) was busy today with families; we arrived early afternoon to enjoy with our three children. The parking is limited, but free. Miles of boat trailers lined up on both sides of the road on the approach....More

There's nothing extremely great to boast about here. They do have a nice Pier to go fishing off of. The sand is okay of course but it's nothing like Clearwater Beach. The water is kind of shallow and gets muddy pretty quick the further you...More

For this to be a man-made beach, it is decent. If you are wanting waves and beautiful water, this may not be the place. This is very brackish water, but it's nice on a hot day. The sand was very clean and it's nice to...More

Another gulf beach which was very popular but again like swimming in a mangrove rather than the ocean. Free parking was good but it is very busy and crowded.

very small and shallow beach. Not very pretty. Might be good for families with very small children. It is very close to Crystal River which is very nice.

No, there are several signs indicating that dogs are not welcome. Sad. Just beyond the beach there is a fishing pier area where you can walk your dog. However, it is quite small. Hope that helps.

Dogs are not allowed directly on the beach, however off to the side on the other side of the rocks looks less beachy- and more grassy people had dogs who were playing fetch in the water.
