I love this place so much. We took our 4 years old boys and they had a blast. The only bad is how pricey the ferry is but what are you going to do is worth it. The weather was great (April) water a bit...More

This was the 3rd time for us camping on Cayo Costa. The untouched beauty of this island is enough to keep me coming back. I've never been when there are very many people on the beach, if any. I've been told it can get busy...More

These natural islands are gorgeous and make one feel the true awe of the beauty of southwest Florida. The water is clear and warm, and the sand is like sugar. Lots of great shells.

Loved this day adventure! We took Tropic Star from Bookelia for the full day trip and just loved it. It was quiet, clean, had flushing toilets and fresh water in the bathrooms and no trashcans out at the beach area so be sure to leave...More

An absolutely beautiful day trip but it wasn't enough time to see much except the beach. It felt like the minute we got there we unpacked our beach bags and it was time to pack back up. No shells to report but the tide was...More

Camping on an island requires a lot of preparation and effort. If you forget it or it breaks, you will do without and everything must be hauled to and from the boat, to the tram, and to the campsite....and you'll do that in reverse when...More

Our family has religiously tent-camped on Cayo Costa a week at a time for the last several years. The fishing is plentiful, the shelling amazing, the tent sites spacious, the rangers and volunteers friendly, and we love the seclusion. The bugs, the heat, the raccoons,...More

Reserve America website. Be careful in making reservations @ the end. I received a charge that I didn't notice in the amount of $ 69.95 for a Active Registration that I didn't even sign up for. They did refund me though.

Rats?!?!?! Hi. We have reservations to stay in a cabin in September. However, we're now concerned as we've seen a few posts mentioning the issue of there being lots of rats running around. Are they doing anything to get the rat issue under control? Should we expect it to be the same in September? Thanks.

These are palm rats. During our visit they stayed in the trees and completely left us alone. This is a nature reserve, so no, I highly doubt they are doing anything about the "problem". The palm rats live there, you do not... More
