It looks like a simple site outside, but when you go inside, you see much more. There is much history here, and there is a great staff running the place.

This is probably the oldest extant church in full use in the Wilmington area. Simple and full of local history. Founded by the original settlers, now an Episcopal church. Historic burial ground surrounds it, and a very moving venue for services and small weddings - up to perhaps 200 people.

This is a place that I have wanted to visit for a long time and it did not disappoint! The church cemetery is loaded with historic graves and there are signs that explain the role of the people in history whose remains are buried there. We had a guided tour where the guide explained everything in detail and you could... More

Old Swedes is a beautiful old church, built in 1699 by Swedish immigrants, that still retains much of what it was all those years ago. The cemetery has 44 Revolutionary War veterans buried in it, a Secretary of State under President Grover Cleveland and four U.S. Senators. For minimal cost, $5 per person, you can get a personal guided tour... More

The Santa Lucia Program was excellent. It was a womderful way to celebrate the Advent season. The young people in the program sang carols in Swedish. Two teens played the violin beautifully. The music was very inspiring.

One the most fascinating and informative tours I have ever had. Our tour guide was a graduate student in archaeology and anthropology...excited about what she was sharing and made it relevant...would return...I believe it cost $5 per person to take the tour, but you copuld walk around the church and cemetery for free...

We went to a Ghost Walk there and were surprised that it was not about ghostly happenings at the church, but historical walk on early Wilmington. Re-enactors would pop up at certain graves and tell about their lives and their impact on the times. It was very interesting. We learned a lot and even Googled different people to learn more.... We were going to skip the tour, just take a quick photo and stroll around the cemetery for a few minutes. I'm so glad the hostess talked us into taking the tour. Our guide had great stories of the people who establish this colony and this church building. It was totally worth the time and price of admission. highly recommend... More
