I climbed east rock park on foot. It was an easy climb up the mountain, but due to the geography of the are, when you reach the top the entire area reveals itself, and it's stunning!

We'd seen this video in a New Haven / Yale cross promotional ad and it was a big letdown to see it in person. Wow! There was a lot of garbage thrown around at the scenic overlook as well as graffiti. The highlight was coming...More

If you hurry you might see the slabs of yellow forsythia around the giant steps. Bikers have a no-cars back way thru the gate at Rice Field. However, once I encountered a service truck, so be sensible. Spring before the leaves come out may be...More

Walk, bike, run up to the top. The view is spectacular. Two routes to access: one allows cars, the other just bike and pedestrian. Picnic tables are passable. Monument is worth viewing. Perfect spot for lunch or as an exercise event.

Drive to the top and take in the wide panoramic views of New Haven. Enjoy a picnic, hike on the trails, and take in all four sides of the monument. View Yale and downtown New Haven.

There r many hikes you can take at the park. Most are gradual climbs. You can extend a hike by connecting to other hikes; but you are able to complete many in 45-75 minutes. Enjoy!
