Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

With Finland consisting of so many little islands, it is humbling to do a tour through what feels like an enormous area but in reality is still a tiny part of the country. Gorgeous way to spend a few hours on the water, passing by pristine forests, little cabins and piers, and seeing a variety of birds that inhabit the area. We went to the pier area to buy tickets around 5:40pm (managed to catch one of the later tours, but check time tables in advance so you don't miss out). It was 25 euros per person for 3 hours. You can have food and drinks on the boat as well if you want to make it a dinner your. Bring a jacket, it's cold on the water in the month of July, but they had little blankets onboard as well if you don't mind using little communal fleece blankets to wrap up (they seemed completely clean).

It was a beautiful day to take the boat out to visit the archipelago. Thanks to Matti, the guide, I had a great time. Weather maybe good but the winds can be very strong so advisable to bring along a jacket with you. Landscape is amazing..one can hike and even camp only at selected spots.

We have been visiting Ekenas, its environs and the archipelago for over forty years. One never tires of the place. Tranquil & lovely - give it a week of your time. This is a naturist paradise. A daily swim in the summer is a must - especially late on after a sunny one, because the water is warm - and fresh, fresh, fresh. We used to hire a cottage by the sea for years - this time we did B&B - see my review of the excellent Kvarteret Sillen. Smashing walks; grand boat tours of the islands; and a visit to beaches nearby - like the on favoured by Russian royalty when Finland was a Duchy. Many other places of interest within reach.

Ekenäs national park is a collection of islands located off the coast of Ekenäs (Tammisaari). The majority of the population living there speak Swedish as their first tongue but the vast majority also speak Finnish and most speak English. It is accessible by boat only and is very popular in the summer months. There are boat services, such as the beautiful cruise boat Sunnan II operating out of towns such as Ekenäs in the area that can take people out to the park.
There are some Taxi boats in the area, such as :
'Myggen', 25 persons, information:
Robert Holmberg tel.int. +358 400 436 915.
'Johanna', 12 persons, information: Skåldö Fiskebod/Göran Wikström, tel.int. +358 19 201 350.
'Lea', 25 persons, information: Jussarö Port Kb/Jan-Peter Kivelä tel.int. +358 40 707 8900.
The tourist office in Ekenäs or the National park visitor centre, also in Ekenäs can help with information about boats. You can check out sites like visit raseborg .com or nationalparks .fi It is also possible, for example, to travel on your own boat or a friends boat or hire kayaks from a man called Jöns Aschan who lives in Ekenäs. This would be by prior agreement. The park has some very beautiful natural scenery and locations and facillities are provided at some locations. Access is of course subject to weather limitations and safety at sea. One should be sensible in planning a trip and wear correct clothing appropriate for the outdoor nature of the park. It is not suitable for people with mobillity problems. There is an excellent boat mooring location at Rödjan on the southern side of Älgö and a camping ground with some basic facillities, fresh water, toilets, cooking grills, a pay sauna, nature trail and viewing tower which is worth the climb. The sauna is operated by agreement with the resident who lives nearby, there is information posted on location. There is also a small fishing hut which is sometimes open and sometimes you can buy small things but no guarantee. This might also be popular with kayaking groups for example. There is also a good overnight boat mooring location on Jussarö with cafe, toilets, limited camping area, possibly a sauna / showers etc. This is also popular with kayaking groups. It is a national park, national park rules apply. Respect the nature, leave it as you found it and take your rubbish home with you. Don't spoil it for others.

Dagmars källan is a spring in a rock in the woods outside Ekenäs, from which the water trickles down to the beach into the little cove known as Källviken (Spring Bay). The water is great and many boaters passing by use it to fill up their water reserves. The russian tsar Alexander III anchored his yacht at this favorite spot on several occasions. The spring was named after his wife Dagmar (Maria Fjodorovna). There is a natural 'bath tub' at the foot of the hill on the little beach. The sand is reddish and the water is clear. A great spot for a picnic and a swim. Come by boat or walk down from the road through the woods.

Hi there,
Am thinking of visiting Tammisaari nature park & Elenas archipelago for a couple of days in July.
I'm travelling alone and without a car.
Might anyone be able to suggest a good location or place to stay as a base to perhaps joining other travellers on boat or walking nature tours (am in my forties and fairly fit but not looking for anything to hardcore!)?
Budget is fairly limited for both tours and accommodation.
Many thanks for your help,
Heather

Hello Heather and welcome to Tammisaari!
Are you thinking of a B&B or hotel in town or a place to set up you tent?
Unfortunately I can't add links to this post but if you look up the website Visit Raseborg and check their "Rest & Sleep" section, I'm sure you'll find what you need.
As for getting to the islands, there are both regular cruises and taxi boats, which you can check out on Visit Raseborg's "Cruises & Boat Charters" page.
If you are looking for a more adventurous way of transport, you can book a kayaking tour (more info Visit Raseborg).
General info about the Ekenäs Archipelago National Park can be found on nationalparks.fi.
Please let us know if we can help you with anything else!
