The railway museum in Danbury really appealed to my 3 year old. It had a play area where he could be hands on with toy trains and tracks. He also loved pushing the buttons to watch the model trains go around the tracks which was very cool. One was not working though. It was a rainy day, so we couldn't... More

My boyfriend has an obsession with trains and was ecstatic to see there was a railway museum so close! We went on a really cold and windy day but we had so much fun! There's an indoor portion with cool artifacts and plenty of model trains. Then you go outside and get to view/ride/go on the actual trains. It's a... More

I'm not into trains but this was a fun experience, especially with two young kids. Riding the train and getting to explore the interiors of others was cool. The volunteers obviously love what they do.

If you have young children, the have special train rides during the year, take on it fun for children. They have a small museum, after you enter. I enjoy trains and model them so anytime, I can get to see older equipment I enjoy it. Could do the tour in about and hour, if your a train person could spend... More

The museum has the potential to be amazing, but I think they are lacking the funds to get there. The displays were informative, but most of the model displays weren't working, which was frustrating to our 3-year old grandson. Also, the "ride" is silly. It's about 75 yards at most. All of the people working were very nice but they... More

Very good place to go with the kids anytime, but we had a wonderful time during Christmas. The kids wrote and mail a letter to Santa, colored a picture, and visited Santa's wagon.

Visiting the museum your met by someone who should be in a museum but very friendly and full of knowledge. Your allowed to walk the museum freely as well as the trains outside no supervision you can climb on them open them and basically do what you want interesting but not very big a good visit for a few hours

A wonderful railway museum with model railroads, memorabilia and knowledgeable guides. Train rides are available in the rail yard with full size cars and engines on display and some accessible to explore. Seasonal annual events are fun for all. Highly recommend visiting.

As the initial Treasurer, I am biased, but this is a good place to spend some time for those interested in railroads. Like the New Haven, the New York Central, and their successors. Models, pictures, equipment, the location of a Hichcock movie. Steam, electric, diesel. All there.
