Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did the full day tour from Lake Condah, visiting sites further out and then around the lake itself. Our tour guide was engaging and informative. Would recommend the tour, to see cultural heritage of the area, or just a visit to the beautiful lake itself, with amazing bird life.

We did the 2 hour tour and found it fascinating. Packed with info about the eels, the lake, the aboriginal history, and how they caught, stored, and smoked the eels. Ended with being shown the remnants of a stone house of the original owners of this land.
Would happily come back and try the 4 hour tour.

A previous reviewer wrote this, which summarizes my opinion very well--'An informative tour, but at $89/head, very expensive for the experience. It was basically a 2hr verbal information session that became more like a lecture toward the end and was dragged out longer than necessary. I'm sure you could find all the info about eels on-line. The visual experience to back up the lecture was a let down. For the price we might have thought we may see a caught eel in the hand, an eel trap basket (other than the one in the cafe) and even be given a taste of smoked eel. I'm all for supporting UNESCO sites, but put a more realistic price on the tours and then encourage people to donate to the cause.' The guide was Joey and at the last minute we were placed with a large group of school students. The presentation was geared more towards them, but I fear even they were bored with the minimal content of the presentation and stie!

My husband and I went on a 2hr Tae Rak Guided Cultural Walk. Reuben was our passionate and knowledgeable guide. The stories he told were fascinating (particularly learning about the kooyang - eels) and generated many questions. I highly recommend the experience. Wear sturdy footwear. We also enjoyed the Kooyang (eel) Tasting Plate at the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre.

Taking the tours was a fantastic and humbling way to experience this Heritage listed area. The guide was excellent covering all aspects of the use of this land, the way of life and the history of its custodians before and after colonisation. Tae Rak is a wonderful place for dining. Great food and friendly staff.

Jayden, the guide, was friendly and knowledgeable despite being new to the job. He was open to listening and even learning from participants. The tour may have been clearer if a 'mud map' was provided to get a better idea if the layout of the land.

Visited with our kids for lunch. Lovely experience with great staff, nice coffee too. Good outlook & if you want to experience something different for lunch definitely worth the drive! We didn’t do the tours this time around, but would love to come back to check them out very soon!

This is an amazing experience. Learning that Australian Indigenous people farmed eel and created stone channels so that they could regulate the waterways to catch eels is mindblowing. Our guides Joey and Reuben were both informative and enthusiastic. Both areas of the park were interesting, one had boardwalks and the other was more natural. Te stone foundations of homes were fascinating. Australia has a rich and diverse history. I think it is crucial to learn our early history as the Aboriginal history is so not only interesting but ensures we know the truth of our country.
The lunch was delicious and plentiful. Tasting platters, soup and a cheese platter, we were spoiled.
By far one of the best tours I have done.
