Yes there is a barrage of signs along the way to Steamboat, yes it makes you want to check it out, and yes I did just that. If you are expecting a shop like Kemosabe in Vail then you may be disappointed, I can't even afford a bandana at that shop. I think FM is affordable clothing, fantastic boot and... More

It is a stop to see if the west beckons to you. Cowboy hats, boots, and western shirts are there. Also today style western women's clothing....and rattle snake eggs.

One of my favorite shops in downtown Steamboat Springs is FM Light and Sons. Great selection of clothing and especially cowboy hats !!! Really nice folks working inside, friendly, helpful and just plain fun. I can spend the whole day walking around this beautiful little town. Great people, awesome views and tons of fun.

I'm tough to fit for boots. Wide feet, no arch, use orthotics, bunion on one foot, narrow heels. But, with the help of a patient salesperson named Brady, I found a great pair of Laredos for about $160. Another rep, Brandon, stretched the boots just a wee bit to perfect the fit. Other staff were very friendly without applying sales... More

There are lots of great Western stores in CO and WY but this is not a top-flight entry in that category despite the prolific advertising. Probably not a bad place to pick up a decent cowboy hat to take home as a souvenir of your trip to Steamboat, though.

This is a must-go for tourists visiting Steamboat Springs, if you couldn't tell by all the yellow signs on the way in to town. This is what I hear is the oldest retail store in town. It has been passed down through generations of their family. They have a giant wall of all different cowboy/girl boots. This is the most... More

Went to FM Light to pick out a pair of Cowboy Boots for my birthday. Was helped by Janie and she was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Great service, fantastic advice and I love the boots we picked out with her help. FM Light is a must visit on a trip to Steamboat. Thank you Janie

If you're driving to Steamboat Springs and you didn't notice the multitude of advertisements for this place for many miles along the road, then you need to visit your ophthalmologist. How can you not stop in to take a look after being bombarded with ads like that? We decided to take bait and walked into their store. Decent sized but... More

We were on a road trip from Denver to the Vista Verde Ranch. About 40 miles into Steamboat we started seeing these signs advertising for F.M Light & Sons, these popped up every mile or so, maybe even more. They seemed to pop up everwhere... Anyway, after a while we felt obliged to go, and thank goodness we did. The... More

After following the sings for 80 miles advertising F.M. Light & Sons, we had to stop in. Awesome selection, wish I wore a cowboy hat. We did end up getting a high quality Pendleton wool shirt at a decent price.
