Snowcat skiing with Steamboat Powdercats is a unique experience, one that may reward you with the best day of skiing in your life. Though Mother Nature holds the cards to how powder rich your day will be, Steamboat Powdercats has put together a system with friendly guides, cats and infrastructure that should provide you with an excellent day in the Steamboat backcountry.

3 Heated snowcats allow Steamboat Powdercats to group guests by skiing ability so everyone is at their comfortable level. Located on Buffalo Pass, the terrain is conveniently just 20-min from downtown Steamboat Springs, so guests are typically cat skiing by 9:15 am. The skiing terrain is matched to the ability level of the group so it's very important to be honest with us when placing you and your group into our cats.

All inclusive tours include everything you'll need for a day in the backcountry, plus photos are included!

Steamboat Powdercats is an extremely professional organization with great service. I was particularly impressed that they were able to find fresh snow throughout the day, despite the lack of fresh snowfall the week prior. The guides keep excellent track of where they've been so they can avoid overusing certain areas. Additionally, the photographer was awesome and got some great shots,... More

Really excellent outfit. They customized the runs to exactly what the group could handle, and made the day really fun. Super professional, courteous and great attitudes all around. Could not have been better. Can't wait to get back.

Took my 18 yo son for his first trip. The crew was awesome! The skiing and service were really great! The lunch was fun at a remote cabin. It was great that they have a photographer take some cool action pictures. I would recommend but plan early, spots fill early.

I have lived here for 35 years, and have always wanted to do this tour! I have heard many good things about them, and it would be a fun way to get away from the crowds, and tourists that crowd the slopes!! I believe you can bring your own lunch too, so I would call them and see! Buffalo Pass... More

Had a great time with Steamboat Powdercats. As we haven't done a lot of snowcat/backcountry skiing, it was nice to have their guidance re ability levels. We ended up doing an am intermediate, afternoon expert trip and it was absolutely perfect to get warmed up a bit in the morning, before hitting the more challenging stuff in the afternoon. Everyone... More

Despite no fresh snow for several days prior to our outing, Steamboat Powdercats delivered a terrific day in the backwoods. A blue sky day and professional guides delivered fun, challenges and untracked snow - run after run. A class organization and well run -

We've been fortunate to go with Powdercats several years in a row, and it never disappoints. Bluebird day this year with golden light on the aspens, sparkling fields of snow and amazing guides! Tummy food in the comfortable cabin.

I went on a level 2 cat on a mini-powder day (6 inches) on 2/19. The crew (Andy, Phil, Todd) were great. They got us out of the office and on the hill fast. The operation is super well organized and professional. The terrain was varied from snow fields, to aspen groves, to ridges and gulleys. We constantly went in... More

If you want to experience cat-skiing this is the way to do it. Very well-run operation, excellent guides, full of energy, enthusiasm, professional. Very comfortable snow-cat for the rides between runs. We were lucky enough to get a blue sky day with lots of fresh powder and our guides did not disappoint in getting us down some super runs. A...
