I'm writing this review kind of late...but coming to CO for 3 years in row to hike during summer is always a breathtaking experience. Literally, I don't do well in high altitude. Every hike is different and unique and beautiful in its own ways. Getting...More

We tent camped at the trail head for an early AM start. The trail had several stream crossings and flower filled open meadows in August. The highlight is aqua, turquoise Ice Lake.

I have never done a real hike like this. It was difficult but absolutely beautiful. I read the best time of year to go is early August because that's when the wild flowers are best. And that did not disappoint. The colors of the water...More

Ice Lakes is one of those "must" hikes. The disclaimer is that you should be in good shape and love hiking because it's a climb. The reward is the stunning beauty as well as the satisfaction that you arrived. Take a picnic lunch, lots of...More

This hike is tough but you are rewarded by such beautiful sceenary you forget the difficulty. Just make sure you start early to avoid the afternoon showers so popular in the summertime.

Starting out getting our feet soaked in a waterfall wasn't a great start, but luckily I brought an extra pair of socks. The trail through the forest was nice and leisurely, but the incline up to the actual lake was very snowy and a bit...More

Can't miss it. THe only choice is whether to start at the bottom on the left or the right side of the entrance canyon. The left is easier if you're taking the full hike. You can drive part way up the right (east) side... More

I'd take all day--to insure sufficient time to take in the flowers, waterfalls and then the lakes at two different elevations
