This is a beautiful and still functional sugar cane mill. This is the last working mill and the gear was made in Derby. It is a National Trust property and worth the few dollars just for the enormous history as described by our guide. The image is on the Bajan 2 dollar note. The views down to the coast are wonderful

there is only two working wind mills in the whole Caribbean this one and one in Antigua, so lets face it if you ever wanted to see how it works then visit while you have a chance, the mill has been restored view a short film, however the surrounding plantation has has long since past a tourist attraction, so not a lot else to see here and is a little hard to get to but if you are near by stop by while you can

We caught the bus then walked a short distance to find the windmill. Although not in use anymore our guide Christopher gave us a very informative talk/visit of the windmill, Unless you book a tour you cannot access the windmill, you can only walk around the grounds free of charge. There are artefacts from the plantation on display around the walls of the windmill. There is a small cafe with outdoor seating from where you can view the Atlantic ocean. It was a welcome break before heading further up the road to cherry hill.

The last sugar windmill to operate in Barbados now preserved as a museum.
Still working occasionally it's one of only two working sugar mills in the world, Sadly it wasn't open when we called as part of a tour but when it is you can climb to the top for a terrific view of the surroundings. It must have been spectacular in it's heyday.

A bit out-of-the-way (you'll need a rental car!) but definately worth a short visit. Reconstruction is still underway on the outlying buildings, but the short film and exhibits do a fine job of explaining how this (the only remaining, working mill) still operates. You'll also get an insight into how sugar cane made these Caribbean islands so important. A walk through the mill itself completes your self-guided visit, and the view from the hill towards the Atlantic coast below is spectacular.

This is a National Trust property and the only mill (of 506) left. The guide is very interesting,amusing and full of information. It's free but if you want to go inside the tower it's 5BDs and you have to wear a hard hat.

Christopher was an incredible guide and shared his in depth knowledge of the history of the windmill, sugar production and the area.
This is a very beautiful spot to stop for a beverage at the cafe and the tour of the windmill. There is a magnificent view of the Atlantic from the hill top perch. It is a visceral and educating experience to be in the presence of a piece of machinery that once had hundreds of peers across the island but now stands alone. Would encourage all visitors to make a trip!

Recently reopened this is a great place to learn more about the sugar trade in Barbados. The mill talks to an emotive history of sugar and slaves. Immaculate grounds are full of butterflies and flowers. The food is fabulous for lunch - the quiche was probably one of the best I’ve eaten anywhere in the world, a humble tuna and red onion sandwich was fresh, flavoursome and, well just flipping great. Sit awhile and look down and admire the views of the East coast. An absolute steal at 10 BBD the tour is fascinating.
Such a shame to see tour after tour just driving through the parking lot taking a photo and not leaving their vehicles, missing the treasure trove on their doorstep.

The mill was one of the sites we had the opportunity to see on our Top 10 of Barbados Tour. While we were not able to stop or get very close to it, from our vantage point on the road it is still a beautiful structure which we were pleased to see. It would have been great if we had been able to get closer and have more time.

Renting a car and driving around the Island was an amazing experience. One of the attractions was Morgan Lewis Windmill. While I enjoyed it; there was this very sad and lonely dog right next to the farm. The windmill is on part of the same property of this farm. If you look just beside the windmill you will see the dog house with a large dog. He will bark but if you approach him you can tell he is very friendly. You can pet him; he is very gentle. His chain is very short and he is emaciated and so lonely. If you visit please bring him some fresh water, food and maybe even a nice blanket.
