FUNtastic Beach!
We were all singing praises for such beauty. White sand, crystal clear water, perplexing rock formations, mesmerizing scenery, plus a portion of the island's rocks extended to form a smooth seabed delivering a pool-like feel in some areas. For more info and pics, check out freespiritedvixen.blogspot.com
The Rest of the Shore
The shore is considerably long relative to the # of visitors and most opt to swim near their respective cottages so groups can practically choose their own swimming area quite a distance from the others.
Staying on the Island
We've met a group of acquaintances who stayed overnight so basically it's possible and you have the choice of renting the cottages or bringing your own tents. Fresh fish abound so you can just have it barbecued, grilled, or smoked.
Gibitngil Island is highly recommended for group outings or reunions. It's like having the whole island to yourselves especially during slack season. We went there during summertime and on a holiday at that, but the number of people was still very modest.
The Province of Cebu has long been known for its beautiful beaches and in fact, many have been developed into expensive beach resorts practically reserved for foreigners and wealthy folks who'd like to stay away from the crowd. But there's still a lot more to Cebu's long coastline and islets waiting to be explored and trust me, this is one of Cebu's best kept secrets. Try it! ^_^

We went to Funtastic Island as it is commonly called. Saw many reviews before hand and was a little leery about what to expect. I must say the reviews slamming this place were way off. The cottages that sit on the rocks are no longer different colors. They are all painted white and blue. The cottages were all very nice and well maintained, we brought our own food and they even have "grills" in a few of the bigger cottages to use for cooking. The water is clean and clear and was great for swimming and snorkeling. Overall it was a very good time.

A small and public resort in the northern part of Cebu.
Activities to offer aside from swimming in the very clear water are: kayaking, cliff diving and zipline activity.
Reminder: There's no restaurant in the island, so you better bring foods with you.

Yes, you read the title right!!!
All information that we found about the place (on the web and on phone by the guy called Dexter (DO NOT TRUST HIM!!! He should not deal with customers!!!)) promised a wonderful visit in a paradise.
After driving near 6 hours in fully packed car (10 adults & 2 kids + food) we finally found a port where to get a transportation to the island. Dexter promised to be there and wait for us...and... you guessed right. He was not there. Anyhow we found an 11 yo boy who promised to take us to the island while his father was seeing a doctor. All on board and 35 minutes trip to the island started.
Once we saw the place it looked promising. Then horror hit...no one knew about our reservation, there is no place to stay overnight (if not in tent) for 10 people...and Dexter...he was not there either. We also found that he is just a member of the maintenance stuff, not a tourist guide as he marketed himself on the phone.
We also found that the only activities available were swimming and canoeing...what happened to zipline (been broken since autumn 2013). And they asked money for staying there. Finally we managed to bargain the payment to zero and vanished from the island after being the only 1.5h.
Just remember! DO NOT DEAL WITH DEXTER!!!

We just been there last Sunday, June 17. 2018. After a long trip from Cordova to Medellin by Taxi and then by Bus and from Medellin (Kawit) by boat to Gibitngil Island to visit and have a Picknick at Funtastic.
We been there many times, but this time we where very disappointed, because the place was under renovation and in a big disorder and very dirty! To our surprise, all the prices where increased inclusive the entrance to Funtastic - normally, if a place is under renovation and in a big disorder, the price should be reduced for the inconvenience the visitor has.
In the late morning a lot of dirty, garbage was in the water, so that we could no longer swim. This is the garbage, probably the inhabitants of the island trow in the sea, plastic bags, plastic bottles and many other garbage!!!
I don't know, if I will go back there, considering the long way and the cost of transportation, just to visit an unfinished place and garbage! It's very sad, but this is how many thing are over here in many places.

Gibitngil or Funtastic Island is located in Medellin North Cebu. This is very famous for Diving Cliff. And dont underestimate the cliff because you will think twice before you jumped. The scenery and the blue water is Fantastic. Gorgeous and beautiesssssss. The entrance is pretty cheap. And bring your own foods and drinks. Well you can also buy drinks there but a bit more expensive.

We have been in this resort last summer and I was kind a disappointed. The pictures gave me interest to go there from Lapu-Lapu City to Medellin and it wasn't worth it.The time me and my family got there,It feel like the place is dirty. The rock formation was nice but it was ruined by a dangerously made cottages that wasn't sturdy enough. The other parts of the island looked beautiful but people are a bunch of pricks throwing garbage and dirt that ruined it. Comfort room,at that time was broken and I don't where people deal with the call of nature.Changing clothes or swimsuit is a hustle and the beach was not what I expected when I saw some pictures.I wasn't s comfortable with my cottage due to it's dangerous placement. There are some things to do here but most of them can be found on other and better resorts.

We love to go to Gibitngil Island. The last time we been there was last Sunday (Sep 13. 2015). We left Cebu at 2am and arrived in Medellin at 5:30, where first we wanted to go to the Seahorse Resort. When we entered the Seahorse nobody was there and our first impression was not good - very dirty! My children immediately ask to don't loose time and to go to "FunTastik" on Gibitngil Island. We asked one of our employees to organize a boat in the time I wend with my wife to the public market in Kawit to buy some fish, chicken and pork, as well as some vegetables, rice and drinks. So that approx. at 7am we started our boat trip from Kawit to "FunTastic".
Once we arrived there - we where the first group, we had the choice to select one of the cottages we already rented several times, then my wife few of our employees started to prepare the food for our breakfast and lunch.
The place is very nice, simple and clean and the sea clear like a mirror! There was high tide, so it was nice to swim and to jump from the rocks into the sea.
We had a lot of fun, we had some very good food like Kinilaw, Fish Soup; one Squid Adobo and one Chicken Adobo; Pancit Cantoon; Minudo and Chicken, Fish and Pork BBQ; Rice and Fruitsalad.
Approx. at 2pm our boat was back to pick us up and broght us back to Kawit, where our car where parked and arrived back in Cordova apprx. 7pm - there was a lot of traffic from Danao to Mandaue.
Our Group was a mix between small children (2), 6 Teens and 16 Adults.

ok,, so dont go here expecting to be blown away but it is pretty cool and worth the trip. I really enjoyed my day here and would definitely go back. The boat ride out was nice and our captain waited until we were ready to go back. You rent a little hut for (most expensive was 350 pesos i think) All of the huts have seating and the more expensive ones have a better view and a bbq area. If you bring in your own food you could have a great bbq there. There are cold beers and some snacks for sale but i think its better to bring your own snacks to be sure you have what you want. The zip line was not working when i was there but the jumping board was pretty great! This is NOT an attraction for foreign tourists but more for the local tourists, so keep that in mind with your expectations of the place. We were the only foreigners there so it is a great place to get off the beaten path and hang out like the locals do.

The rock formation was awesome to see..Funtastic island is definitely good for those who have the courage to jump from a platform..the water in that area is sooo clean and clear..the cottages are just table and benches..there are also cheaper ones with table and chairs and the prices are just affordable..RESERVATION is a must especially during weekends..
We had a great time getting sunkissed skin..^.^

How much the over night stay and other fees?
How do I get there?
Is this a white sand?
Written 27 April 2016
Sorry to inform you that my friend are the one who arrange the trip but we didnt stay overnight and i dont have any idea that you can stay overnight in the island. When we reach the kawit medellin we rent a boat and the cottages rate is 350 to 250 belo as far as i remember. There is also entrance fee but i think below 20 and rate of zipline over the ocean is 50.. And yes its a white sand.
