The Limon Heritage Railroad Park & Museum Complex is a facility firmly grounded in its pioneer roots with varied adventures waiting for the visitor, whether your interests are railroads; famous area ranches, cowboys and western saddles; Native American artifacts; growing wheat; award-winning photos of the short grass prairie and vintage photos celebrating 100 years of small town growth and change; or ever changing exhibits such as our new Dust Bowl and Changes in Communication collections. Our park houses eight windmills; a distinctive 11-foot bronze "Prairie Odyssey" sculpture by cowboy artist Herb Mignery (pictured to the left); lovely memorial gardens; and a Pioneer Monument with 1892 Cattle Scale dedicated to area ranchers.

The Museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day from 1pm - 8pm Monday-Saturday and on Sunday's from 1pm - 4pm. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.

You would never believe such a great museum exists in a town this small! Extremely well done. Excellent collection of arrowheads. The kids will love the train display. If you need a stretch break for the family, this is perfect. Park, museum, and great displays. Heritage days in early August is a great event.

We were staying at a motel down the road, and walked our dogs around the Limon City Hall, and past this little museum. We were walking after dark, so the museum was obviously closed. We enjoyed looking at the old trucks and other antiques on the grounds. Wish we could have gone inside!

We knew it was closed, but had a look around the outside exibits. Found it very interesting. Obviously didn't have the background info but still a very enjoyable walk around. With some info on the history it would have been excellent. But we are passing thru in low season.

Although the museum building was closed we walked and looked at the old farm equipment they had on display.

Don't miss the two museums in Limon if you find yourself with some time on your hands. They are remarkably well done, and show so much history of the settler and heyday of days gone by for these little towns. Bravo to the folks of Limon for all the volunteer effort that has gone in to making the museums a... More

Excellent museum informative clean and just plain enjoyable visit. The volunteer on Thursday was exceptional. Informative, shared things about Limon and really deserves to know how much we appricated our visit with her and museum.

If you find yourself in Limon and have a few spare moments... this is a must see. A very impressive small town Heritage Museum. Our family stopped to stretch our legs and had a great time at the museum! Our 4, 3, and 1-year-old were all encouraged by the staff/volunteers to explore and touch things!

This place has come a long way over the years. If you've ever been curious at to Limon's past and it's roots, this is a great place to visit. The railroad displays are awesome to walk through.

This is a small but informative history presentation in an open air format. American history and train buffs are a must. There were curators available that could tell you history of the area as well.
