If I could give zero stars I would

Did not find the first day, came back and hiked up and down for a few hours to find a stinky pool full of high school kids, it stunk bad. I have no idea why anyone would want to get in that brown poo looking and stinky water. Saw a couple of old naked men making out by the river and trash everywhere so we decided to leave when we almost got attacked by bear. Do not go here, such a bad idea!!!!

Perfect Hot Spring
Jul. 2020 • Couples
Though the hike was intense to get there, the reward was best. There were already some people there. They were kind enough to give us a place to sink into and enjoy. Definitely recommend this. Just be prepared to walk a downward winding rocky trail. 😊 plus it’s FREE

We were in the hot s prings for over 1 hour. Lovely temperature in the springs, 40gr. The showers and changing rooms are clean. The staff is friendly although there is a renovation ongoing, it is worthwhile visting.

Lovely hot springs with two pools
Jul. 2018 • Couples
We went to Upper Banff Hot springs and Radium. We liked Radium the most. It was larger and had a separate pool that is cooler for kids. It had a water slide in the one for kids. The rock formations on the side of the pool are lovely and there are a few picnic tables with umbrellas to get out of the sun if needed. It is right on the river as well but we never got out of the hot tub and walked up to see it. The temperature was perfect and they rent towels for a $1 and also give you a quarter for the locker. The locker room was clean and staff friendly. You drive through Sinclair Canyon if coming from Banff into Kootenay which is absolute gorgeous as you get to Radium. You have to go through the canyon after reaching the hot springs about 2 blocks so go past the hot springs and drive through the canyon. It is truly lovely and we say a mass of bighorn sheep on the side of the road in Radium.

Extremely small
Aug. 2017 • Family
Was very hyped but no bigger than the average hot tub with too many people much warmer than the Colorado river but not overly hot. Typical sulfur smell but not overpowering. Footwear necessary in the area.

Not so Hot Springs
Aug. 2017 • Solo
Part river water, part trickle out of a cliff. The pool is singular, small, and full of used beer. No wifi, no cell service, and people mooned the train. You probably shouldn't go here.

Ruined by internet searches, now everyone with a smart can find it, all the glass, dog poop, and dirty hippies one could want.

Closed Trail
Jul. 2017
We drove 2 hours to find out that the trail was closed due to an incident. This was on July 7, 2017. We checked there website and googled the closing and found nothing about a closing. Very disappointed that they do not post closings.

You have to drive the Trough Rd (about 17 miles of good relatively smooth dirt road from Kremmling - any car can make it) to the Radium turnoff, You park in the Mugrage Campground and cross the road and take a steep path up the hill. (Might be impossible if muddy.) There is a sign at the bottom of the trail but it doesn't say Radium Hot Springs. Just a generic warning. Once at the top of the hill there is a rather wide dirt trail that obviously doubles as a Jeep trail. Walk about 15 minutes and the road makes a right turn. (No shade on this trail so wear a hat, bring water and go early if it's summer.) Follow the road another 5 minutes or so. Look for a wide dirt area on your left with a grill. (If you get to where the path gets narrow you have gone too far.) Turn left there and you will see a second grill below the first. Follow the trail down until you get to the rocks. Use the rocks as a sort of irregular staircase to descend to the river. (You will need to use your hands in places but I managed it while holding on to my dog's leash. He had no problem but he's pretty agile.) The hot springs are at the base of the "staircase." Don't expect something large. It's only about 6' across and is separated from the river by a line of rocks. Periodically a raft will stop and 6 or 8 rafters will crowd into the pool. Water is not steaming hot. More like bath water. If you plan to soak in the pool, wear your bathing suit under your clothes as there is no place to change.
