Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ahh the air smells so clean and crisp up 11,990 feet above sea level.
I can see why my friend decided to move here and live for decades here. I have several friends that have a goal to move out here in the next 10 years or after they retire.
There’s a great air purity here and the locals are extremely active and fit too. Look at the beautiful landscape of this Rocky Mountain state.
It’s never too warm or cold in Denver.
So much to love and enjoy in these parts. I get the draw of this state after spending a solid week here.

A must do. We were driving cross country and heading west from Denver area. We made this stop and had to put on a winter coat, socks and scarf! after wearing short sleeves earlier. It was well worth it !
Take Rte 6 off of I-70 (an alternative to the Eisenhower Tunnel). The road is windy but scenery is beautiful. When you get to the marker for Continental Divide, pull over and wander around for a beautiful view of snow capped mountains and fresh air, 11,990 feet about sea level.

Beautiful snowy mountain Wonderland. Would definitely recommend the drive up from Keystone and out to I-70. Such a beautiful twisty turny Road. At the summit you can get out and take your picture by the Continental Divide sign. Truly beautiful place.

Climb Mount Sniktau while you're here - it is a 13er and a good way to get used to the altitude without going too far. The incline at the very beginning is INSANE and I thought I was going to have an asthmatic attack right then. But the rest really isn't so bad, just windy! & bring sunscreen!

We overheard a conversation about getting off of I 70 before the big tunnel and going over Loveland Pass instead. We decided to do just that. It was a brilliantly sunny day and we took our time going over the pass, stopping a many of the pullovers to admire the amazing views. This is not for the faint of heart. The road is narrow and has precipitous drops with no guardrails!

If you have the time this is a pleasant alternative to driving through the super busy Eisenhower Tunnel. Not much traffic on the pass but there were a few semis coming down that were not allowed through the tunnel. Road is plenty wide enough for semis so any driver can do the pass without any issues. I've done this Pass in winter also without issues.

Worth a quick stop. This is one of those spots that you can remember for a lifetime. It's a spectacular view in all directions.
In the winter, there is pretty much always someone there coming or going from back country skiing. I'm forever envious of those folks.
Unless the wind is crazy strong, interrupt your drive and get out and be in the moment. You won't regret it.

Um, Loveland Pass is no where near Loveland CO. Loveland Pass is located closer to Breckenridge than anywhere close to the Front Range.

We are from Miami, and drove the Pass December 2018. It took us a moment to figure out the hitchhiking snowboarders at the bottom, but understood once we started the drive. It was a beautiful drive, and not too scary for people not used to heights or driving in the mountains. We were there on a very cold and very windy day, so the stop at the Continental Divide sign took our breath away, literally. The view is stunning. Bundle up, especially if it's windy. We had a basic rental car (not 4 wheel drive) so we were leery of stopping at some of the overlooks, but they seemed accessible for all types of vehicles. The car itself did fine on the road. The road was clearly paved and not icy at all.

Visited in February so the snow was still deep. We loved the pass view though even in the snow. The out of bounds skiers were super cool to see as well. Short detour from Keystone back to the interstate. We came out right by the Loveland Ski resort. Do yourself a favor if in this area, just stop and see it.

Hi! We will be driving from breckendrige to Denver next september and Eisenhower makes me scared. Loveland pass would be safe?
Thanks in advance!!

Loveland Pass has no connection to the city of Loveland, CO. It is two hours from Loveland/Fort Collins or an hour from Denver. You'll see the exit on Hwy 70 on your way to Breckenridge.

How would the driving be for someone who is scared of heights? We’re visiting family next week and they want to do this but I’ll need to be the driver in a separate car. I’m afraid of heights and don’t like driving up mountains; so I fear this may not be an option. Any information you can share will be so appreciated!

Have someone else drive, I am from the east coast, it freaked me out

Has anyone been here recently (Dec 2018) that could comment on the conditions? Planning on taking the detour during our Denver to Breckenridge drive Saturday and really hoping to be able to see the views, but concerned it might be snowed out. Thanks!

Yeah jut check with the highway conditions and if there is a storm rolling in. They keep it pretty clear.

I need some assistance! I'm from Texas, heading that way in Feb for our elopement. Our plan is to get married some place amazing with mountains in the background (the closer, the better!). We wouldn't even mind a lake too. We have about 5 people that might be with us, one in her '90's so prefer a very short walk. We are prepared for cold, snow, sun... whatever. We want to save our money for our reception when we go back home. Does anyone have any ideas of a nice place in the outdoors, easily accessible to say our vows? We wouldn't mind anywhere within 2-3 hours of Denver. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

A couple of Ideas:
1 ==> the top loveland pass would work. All you do is drive to the car park at the top and walk to the other side of the road were there is a great view to the west also there is a sign showing that you are on the Continental divide.
2 ==> you can just ride up in one of the gondola at keystone to the top where you can have your ceremony then ride the gondola back down. You could also have some food or drinks prior to going back down.
3 ==> Keystone also has a lake, that is keep cleared, this area is easily accessible and has a wide verity of different pictures opportunities .

We're visiting Colorado this coming July. We'll be driving from Denver to Grand Junction on a Saturday morning, then driving back the following Wednesday. We want to do Loveland Pass one way and Eisenhower Tunnel the other way. Any preferences on which one to do which direction?
Written 31 March 2017
I recommend Loveland pass there and Eisenhower back. Make sure to stop on the top of Loveland to enjoy the views and take pics. There will still be snow there and it's always windy and colde so have warm clothes. Enjoy!

Just curious how long is the drive. I will be coming from the north side
I will be driving on loveland pass may be on 21st december or 222 dec if there are no snow storm that day. Looks a bit scary but i am encouraged by the reviews of so many travellers

I'm not sure. We were going to keystone from Denver. We parked at Loveland pass and walked the trail.

Eastbound travelers: do yourselves a favor and after going over Loveland Pass and getting back on I-70, STAY on I-70 and don't try taking the exit down old Hwy 6/Bakerville/(whatever) through Silver Plume. The speed limit is 25mph through town and is being aggressively enforced! Just stay on the highway and you will get home to Denver (or wherever) eventually and with less effort...believe me. Or just don't come thru on the weekend and avoid traffic troubles entirely. Travel smart and safe.
Written 22 July 2015
Sometimes it is more peaceful to take the road less travelled however, you do end up driving through neighborhoods. I understand why they would prefer to keep traffic on I-70. We often avoid the traffic by enjoying a nice leisurely dinner up in Summit County and leaving after the peak time or just leaving earlier. It is just less stressful.
