Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a great time experiencing the vibrant downtown restaurant scene. We met our guide, Rebecca at Main Street Bagels where we sampled wonderful scones, our next stop was at a olive oil & vinegar store where we learned about the olive oils and vinegars and sampled several. Next up was MX Tapas Bar where we had wonderful Latin food. Then we were off to Pablos Pizza where we had their monthly pizza special which had the local Palisade Peaches and roasted pasilla peppers. It was delicious. Then we were off to Rockslide Brewery where we were greeted by the owner and served a small salad and salmon fish and chips by the head chef who took the time to visit with us. The salmon fish and chips was done with a light beer batter using their beer. It complemented the fish very well and was fantastic. Our last stop was Gelato Junction where we tasted gelato and got to select a cone. At each stop Rebecca and the owner/shop employee provided information about the business and the building. While we were walking between restaurants Rebecca also provided information about Grand Junction and some of the other buildings. This was a GREAT way to spend a Saturday afternoon and if we return to GJ we would do this tour again. Plus now we have to come back and eat a regular meal at all the restaurants we stopped at. There are also many more great locally owned restaurants downtown that were not on the tour but there is simply not time for all or room for more food. At each stop it wasn't just a sample you received but a generous portion to try. You simply cannot end this tour hungry. In fact we were so full we didn't eat dinner. Overall I cannot say enough good things about Rebecca and this tour. You simply must book this tour.

Posting this review for my mom who is not internet savvy. Five couples in their 70s took this tour and just loved it. Guide (Rebecca) was very knowledgeable and the variety of food was good. Recommend!

We had the best time on this food tour! We went to about 5 different places and got to eat at all of them. Different tours will go to different spots. And they are definitely different on weekends, nights or weekday afternoons. You may want to ask. (And times of tours may b different at different times of the year)
Every tour will be different! Here is ours.
We went on a weekend afternoon and just had so much fun. We left at 2 PM and it lasted several hours.
We met at Main Street Bagel and then started our tour at a local shop that specializes in fresh juices, cheeses, olive oils and vinegars. We first had a freshly pressed juice to taste. Then, we got a little lecture from the store manager about how olive oils are made and infused - and vinegars, too. We got to taste lots of the oils and vinegars. Definitely learned a lot and changed many of my preconceived notions!
As we walked to our next location, we were told about the history of the old downtown buildings we went by and some about the Art on the Corner sculptures.
Then, to MX Tapas, a local Mexican/Spanish spot. We each got a "tapa" - which was actually more of a small plate meal. Each person got a different one, so we could share! No alcohol is included, but several of us bought a margarita (really interesting ones!).
Then, a nice little walk to Pablo's Pizza, where we shared a whole pizza! And we got to hear the history of Pablos and look at the art on the wall.
On to Rockslide Brewery - we got to sample (included) a bunch of beers - I think 2 or 3 per person. We each got a small beet salad (really wonderful) and salmon and chips (I will be back for that!! really good). The manager gave us a nice run through of how their beer is made and how they make menu choices.
Last was Gelato Junction where we learned the differences between gelato, ice cream, sherbet and ices. We tasted way too many flavors and were given a cup or cone to go!
I wasn't hungry till the next day.
I recommend this highly - it is fun. You get a lot of inside information and history about Grand Junction, the buildings and the restaurants. And you eat like royalty. The best part is - you try restaurants and businesses you might have walked by. Now they will be your favorite places!

My friend and I did this food tour on a Saturday afternoon. There were four of us taking the tour. Tyler was so nice and very informative. The highlights were Pablo's Pizza and The Rockslide. We were surprised that there were no Colorado wines at any of the venues.

It was only the two of us who signed up to go, and he didn't turn us away due to a small turnout. It was amazing that he went through with it, even with it raining. It was the perfect way to get a feel for the main street vibe and to understand Grand Junction in general. He was very knowledgeable and we knew nothing of Colorado in general so it was really fun to hear all the cool stories! We didn't know if we had anything to do and so this was a good filler for a random weekend away from home! I highly suggest you do this because Tyler (our host) and his wife are really trying to make a difference in our lives and for the lives of the small businesses in town.

What a fun Saturday afternoon, learning the history of Grand Junction and trying great food in the historic main street. Well worth the time spent enjoying this fun town. Winter months the little shops shut down at 5:00 pm and most are not open on Sunday. For a moment I thought we were back in Utah. LOL I would of loved to check out some of the shops after the food tour. Our Tour Guide Julia was fun and we totally enjoyed her company and stories of Grand Junction.

GJ Food Tours are a must for anyone wanting a fun food adventure while strolling the lovely downtown promenade and learning a bit about local history. Every tour is different, so don't be reluctant to book more than one. Participants can learn how to taste high quality olive oils (yes, there is a technique!) and various infused balsamic vinegars at Bella Balsamic, try a variety of tasty dishes at the Nepal Indian restaurant, and enjoy beer samples with salmon fish and chips at the Rockslide Brewery. All of these experiences were enjoyed at just one tour. Other tours include different, but equally awesome places to dine as you enjoy the company of the host and hostess and other participants. You pay for the tour with a reasonable, flat fee that includes all food and gratuities. A sure winner!

We live in GJ but had a friend come visit from out of town. It was so much fun! This will be our new "go to" activity when we have company come visit. Tyler & Rebecca were so fun and very knowledgeable about downtown GJ. It was a great way to check out Main Street and try some great food!

What is the schedule for July 15, 2015. Wife and I will be in town for one week duration and staying at a AirBnb host home. Sounds interesting. Is there a lot of walking - stair climbing because my wife is somewhat limited in her abilities...?
Thanks.

What a great trip! The food tour does include about 8 small city blocks of walking with one flight of stairs. The 15th is a Wednesday, and while no exact route is guaranteed, it typically includes a mix of fine dining and casual local restaurants and small businesses. The last Wednesday tour included 626 on Rood, Enstroms, MX Tapas, The Local and then a stop for wine at The Palette. It is a lot of fun!
