Beautiful huffer puffer out and back trail

This is a great trial to take when you have a couple of hours to spare. The lake and waterfall at the top is worth the hike!

Hanging Lake Trail just outside of Glenwood Springs to the east is a arguous trail. No for the feeble. It is worth the hike but some areas are very steep. Worth it once you get to the lake!

The hike was amazing. It is a more difficult level trail, however I took my children and they did better than I did with all of their energy. There are a lot of large rocks on the trail so watch your footing to not get black and blue feet. Worth the full day hike. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

My family and I (2 adults, 5 children), along with our in-laws (3 adults, 4 children) enjoyed a hike to the Hanging Lakes over the summer (I said we traveled 2/2016, but it was actually 8/2015). It was a hot day, and we had a lot of little ones, but we made it no problem, taking lots of breaks, and... More

Pretty good hike to the top. We only stopped once on the way but many people were taking breaks so pace yourself. I would say it's close to an intermediate trail. Amazing views at the top so bring your camera. Best advice is to get there early like we did. When we came back down people were fighting for parking... More

This hike is amazing. I wasn't sure I wanted to do it with a couple of teenage boys who want to touch everything, I was afraid they would want to touch the water or something dumb... but when you get to the lake it is so beautiful it even made two teen boy respectful of its beauty. It's not a... More

If you aren't an avid hiker, this hike is a bit of a challenge, but I completed it with 70 5th graders, so if they can do it..... Remember to be prepared with water, snacks, and good shoes. The hike isn't very long (2.5 miles I think), but it will take 2-4 hours of your day. I always like hiking... More

The trail is very busy, like non stop people going both ways kinda busy. So don't come here expecting a quiet nature walk alone. Try to ignore the crowd and appreciate the trail for all its beauty, and when you get to the top and see the lake it will take your breath away. Dont forget to do the extra... More

We went to hanging lake around Christmas time and it was amazing. It's a difficult hike, but the view at the top is worth it. I would recommend bringing the spike for the shoes, cuz when we went back down, it was slippery.
