Plan on an ascent that requires closed toed shoes. Flip flops ain't gonna make a nice experience. It's a quad workout with stupendous views at the top. Do go above to see the behind the scene falls. It's a gorgeous hike and definitely a do...More

It took us two hours to get up but we did stop many times. As it is October the weather was nice so between us three small bottles of water would suffice. The view at the top is spectacular though and you must do the...More

This is not a hike for beginners, and I wouldn't recommend it for anyone in winter months. It is steep and rocky, but the picturesque views at the end at both Hanging Lake and Sprouting Rock are absolutely worth it! I did trip on the...More

This is rated as a difficult hike, but I think it's because of the steepness. There are a lot of rocks that you walk on and some are almost like stairs. Sturdy shoes are a must. This time of year the trail is gorgeous with...More

One of the most beautiful hiking trails I ever walked. I was lucky enough to do this trail in October during the height of the fall season when the trees were vibrant gold, orange and red. The trail itself is approximately 2km and quite a...More

Beautiful hike up to the hanging lake. Keep going past it to spouting rock as this is less than five minutes beyond the lake and is a wonderful waterfall which you can walk behind.

Hanging Lake Trail is not to take lightly, I'd recommend water and have solid shoes for the rocks are pretty large in some areas. I enjoyed the tree canopy to cool off as we hiked to our goal. We saw birds and lots of water...More

Due to the altitude, the hike up to hanging lake is semi-challenging for a non-hiker like me, but it was so worth it! On the way up there is beautiful scenery and vistas and when you get to the top, the lake is beyond gorgeous....More

Hiked this trail on a day off from hiking 14ers. We started early in the morning to avoid the crowds. On the way back noticed some people with small children. I doubt they made it to the top!

It will be cold then, but pretty sure the trail is open year round. The surrounding weather and roads would be the only limitations if it has snowed a lot. Check the roads with CDOT. Any precipitation on the trail would... More
