My wife and I hiked the lake in the fall season. We were almost by ourselves! No dogs allowed, so plan on leaving the pooch home. Bring water and a snack to enjoy throughout the many rest spots. Watch a little video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSChGTzLcFY

Impressive and pretty, but not as awe-inspiring as the hype surrounding it. The trail hike up to the lake is better than what's at the top.

This was probably the most challenging hike i have personally ever done........It was quite brutal to be honest! Take your time and it is very doable and oh so worth it when you get to the top! Hanging Lake is one of the most serene,...More

Take a minute and walk up the mountain just east of Glenwood Springs. You will find an amazing little lake up there and with the clarity of the water and surreal surroundings, you will find some peace and quietness. Its a must stop if you...More

Spectacular. Had to hike up in the rain then the sun came out when we arrived. It's a magical place and was a highlight of our vacation.

Hanging lake is pretty cool but the trail is always packed full of tourists. The parking lot fills up early so I'd keep that in mind or ride a bicycle the 10 miles or so from Glenwood Springs. The ride is very pretty running through...More

The trail was re-opened recently. I was fortunate to help with escorting a couple hundred school kids to the lake and back. The trail was in great condition. No parking hassles with the off season and very few folks on the trail. At the lake,...More

It is a brutal hike...even rock climbing in some places but well worth the time and effort. Absolutely beautiful.

Another hike that you must do super early. We arrived right at 7:45am and got the last parking spot. It was straight up but worth the climb. Downside, crowded! Upside, you can hang at the lake and relax. We waited for over an hour as...More

The hike really was quite demanding for the person not in shape...like me and my girlfriend. It didn't help at all that I didn't take the warnings of strenuous hike seriously. I did not have proper shoes and made the hike unnecessarily hard and dangerous...More

The lake is magnificent! On my list of favorites! I just don't like how so many people pretend to have food in their hands and fool squirrels!

Came here with a friend and the hike was a bit longer than I expected. The view is worth it. There are some steep climbs so wear appropriate shoes.

Don’t count on having cell service. Neither my wife (Sprint) nor I (Verizon) had service back in April 2018. If I remember correctly l, we lost it even before we pulled into the parking area.
