Description:

The Georgetown Loop Railroad was one of Colorado’s first visitor...

The Georgetown Loop Railroad was one of Colorado’s first visitor attractions. Completed in 1884, this spectacular stretch of three-foot narrow gauge railroad was considered an engineering marvel for its time. This is a ride to remember! The beauty of the rugged Rocky Mountains surrounds you as our old-time steam locomotive or one of our powerful diesel locomotives winds up the Clear Creek canyon. Pass by remains of gold and silver mines and breathtaking views along the line, in fully enclosed and open cars. Great family fun for kids of all ages.

We hit Colorado in two different years. This became the 7th state in our 50-State Quest. The first time was in 1981 but we didn't spend all that much time there for we had 5 other states to do. So we made another special trip there to have quality time for that alone in May of ((1986 not 2016)). Wasn't... More

We arrived just in time for the last train of the day. It was so fortunate because we didn't plan to stay at Denver for another day and we were so determined and excited to check out the attraction after looking at all the thrilling and scenic pictures of it on the Internet. The tickets price were expensive but it... More

I have taken out of town visitors on the train several times over the years but always in the summer. This was our first visit in December & as I was escorting relatives from out of state, I booked the Presidential package with high expectations - this was very expensive for the 4 of us, and in my opinion, not... The Georgetown Loop is a fun train ride with silver plumes of steam from a real, working steam engine. Don’t miss the parlor car and consider the extended tour when it is running. Don’t miss the scenery including Devil’s Gate, the high bridge, and the nearby silver mines and opportunities to pan for gold. See the photos of this great... More

Stopped here on our trek back to Denver's Airport. Picked from a moderate selection of area jewelry and a couple of shirts. They had candy but we avoided that. Great place to pull off the road and take a load off. Oh, we toured the lil downtown.

We decided to explore the area outside of Denver for the day and chose the Georgetown Loop Train as our activity. The Georgetown area is a cute, quaint town and just down the hill from the train station. The train ride has excellent service and provided great views of the mountains. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something... More

We traveled from the Silver Plume Station to the Devil's Gate Station in an open car. About halfway, the train stops near the Lebanon Silver Mine. We took the walking tour through the mine. Our guide was friendly, the mine path was well lit, and there were lots of historical mining exhibits along the way. My husband, who is afraid... More

Our granddaughter was called by Santa on Christmas afternoon to let her know her Christmas Wish was coming true and she was flying with her mama to Colorado to see her Nana and Papa who had moved away from WA state last year.....not only did she get that surprise, but she also got to ride the Santa Train in Georgetown... While I did take my ride on the train between Christmas and New Years, when other attractions like the mines that are open during the summer months - not sure why people ride the "loop" during the winter. Don't get me wrong, I like riding trains; especially old ones that have some kind of story; but the Georgetown Loop doesn't... More

My 2 teenagers and I rode the train to see the Christmas lights. We got free hot chocolate while we were waiting. This is a 1 hour train ride. About a third of the people in our car were toddlers. They enjoyed the ride for about 15 minutes and then the screaming, crying, and struggling started. My son said that... More
