A beautiful mountain drive west out of Georgetown, Colorado. Well maintained road that has recently been upgraded with plenty of views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The nice day trip extends over the Guanella mountain pass toward South Park valley, intersects highway 285 into...More

Combine this visit with a day in Georgetown or make it a campsite. If you go up to the summit and back to town it's maybe one hour. Lots of pretty scenery and pull offs on the road up. There's many campers and campsites you'll...More

Drove on this picturesque road on the way to our hike up Mt Bierstadt. Gorgeous! Lots of people camping in the area, the road is great, was paved recently, wide enough and the views are spectacular!

After a train ride in Georgetown we traveled the entire length of the pass. Just beautiful with a few water falls close to the highway. You will reach an elevation of over 12,000 Ft. above sea level. Paved road all the way. Several camping spots...More

Lucky us!!! We were enjoying Indian hot springs with our kids and wanting to camp nearby. A lucky search sent us to Guanella Pass Campground near Georgetown CO. Though I wanted something closer (it's only about 35 min out but kids were wrecked) we went...More

Another fabulous journey. Had breakfast at the Happy Cooker and made our way up Guanella Pass. Fabulous views, nice people, bathrooms available. Will return.

First time over since the rebuild. Great road on the 1200 GS. Some airy sections of Flatlanders. Ride your ride and you'll be OK. And, stay in your lane.

You are driving up the mountain to this pass. It takes about 20 minutes and has some hairpin turns in it. It can be somewhat unnerving. When you get to the top there are some Vistas and some waterfalls along the way, but I'm not...More

Father's Day, we were in the area, ate at Mountain Prime in Idaho Springs (Go, it is great). My kids had never been up the pass before, they loved it, snow pics in shorts in June, right! Sometimes we see bighorn sheep, not this time....More

It has been years since I crossed Guanella Pass and the improvements are extraordinary. Paved all the way. Mostly wood guard rails make it seem more rustic and very little traffic.

The road up to the pass is paved to the top from the Geogretown side but it will be many months before the remainder is paved. They only opened the road all the way to the top from Georgetowm a few weeks ago..
