Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My daughter and I love old towns. We have never been to one with the mountain as a backdrop. So beautiful! So cool! The stores are cute although we didn’t buy anything. If you have little people stop by the library for the children’s section. We walked the downtown in 30 mins.

After a two week stay in Beaver Creek; we stopped in here for awhile, before continuing our two day trek back home.
We had so enjoyed our visits here in 2017, that we wanted to rekindle our memories a bit.
The Visitor's Center is a great place to start; where one can obtain an overview of and historical perspective on the area.
The downtown is a real testament to the local people appreciating and preserving this piece of our nation's story. The architecture is a wonderful step-back in time.
We had the added bonus of arriving on the day the town, unbeknownst to us, was preparing to start a pack-mule race. This was a real treat, and underscored some of the historic attributes of this area.
We hope it's less than 5-6 years before our next revisit here.

There are signs on almost every building saying when it was built and what it originally was - Adorable small town to walk around - you can feel the settlers walking around doing chores

On a trip with LS Tours, we made a quick pit stop in Georgetown to see the sights, by recommendation, and we were pleasantly surprised! What a nice, quaint little town just off I70. We went in several shops downtown and everyone was polite and welcoming. It's worth the visit!

We were on our way from Steamboat to Denver International and decided to stop here for lunch and a quick tour of this old mining town. Very colorful and interesting turn of the century buildings including an old firehouse and the Hotel de Paris both now museums. A number of quaint shops including a neat Christmas Shoppe and an old trading post. Had a nice lunch at Cooper's as well. A welcome and enjoyable 2 hour respite from the long drive.

We really enjoyed walking around town and checking out all the quaint shops. Stopped and got coffee and a muffin in one and beef jerky in another. Had nice chats with all the proprietors.

A terrific visit to the town. This town is very well kept and a reminder of what a miner's town would have looked like in the 1900's. Original buildings are still up and owners are restoring them very well. A great stop! The backdrop to the town is beautiful. A place where one can find history, good food, drinks and entertainment. A lot to learn in Georgetown. The people in the town are terrific! A place everyone must see!

If you enjoy historic small town America, there is one main Street with circa 1900 buildings surrounded by quaint Victorian homes on rolling streets in a quiet setting. A nice place to take a break if you are traveling on I70 about an hour west of Denver. You could just take a half to one hour break and drive the town, or spend a few hours looking around at the architecture and surrounding landscapes, and then go to The Alpine for one of the best pizzas you may ever have. At $24, not kid’s pizza, but well worth it.
Georgetown is great if you like small town historic America.
