Very nice beach with white/ marble sand in and out of the sea, right bellow the marble factory of Thasos. Very crowdy, you must go as earlier as possible

Nice beach overall long protected from all winds as a closed large gulf. Good for families with small children. Possible water sports and a beach bar to relax all day!! Quite long way to reach with asphalt but beware of the turns while taking pictutes or watching the sunset !

Beautiful beach with sand. It is quiet before noon. Nice and clear water. Some taverns on the beachside. Also don't forget to go to the little church by the end of the beach. The other side of the church there is another small beach with a tavern.
There is a parking spot before you enter the beach but it can be crowded especially after noon.

Lately the main reason for me to come to Vathy is the beautiful, maybe even the island's most beautiful walk starting above Apollonia. If one begins at the bus stop in Apollonia it takes about 4 hours to get here. The path goes through a wild, mountaineous area with only a few chapels around.

In the old days there was a more direct path to Vathy, but this one got destroyed, when they started to build a road in the early 1990s.I remember, when there were only a few summerhouses for local farmers around the double chapel of Taxiarches. The whole beach was unspoilt, was nature pure. Naturally, if one didn't have a boat to pick one up, it meant walking back again to Apollonia.

With the road plenty of construction began, unfortunately without any planning at all, thus several houses were built on the beach, so close to the water, that now with some waves one cannot walk along the beach without getting wet. And there is no road or path at the back of the houses, of which several are taverns. By now also a resort has been built at the back, luckily in a style that is no eyesore.

The beach with golden coloured sand is widest in the southern part. From there one has the possibility to walk to the three small beaches of Tsopou, away from it all. Being in a deep bay facing southwest, the beach is not exposed to the common Meltemi winds from the north. Also the water doesn't get deep too quickly, thus Vathy is quite ideal for small children. There are regular bus connections between Vathy and Apollonia.

We've now been here two years in a row.

Stay in accommodation along the water, you can't be the location.

Restaurants are along the beach, what a view. They are all good priced and serve traditional greek food, and pitchers of wine.

we came here on the bus for a few hours, as this is a recommended beach. We also came across a local food festival with local celebrity chefs cooking their dishes. It looked like it was being filmed. We managed briefly to get in on the action by tasting the local wine and my husband capers on bread.

There are plenty of Tavernas on the beaches to have lunch or just a drink as we did. We stayed on the beach for a couple hours until the 15.30 -bus back to the capital.

A great chill out day, and the beaches not crowded at all

Sandy beach with a few rocky bits, to the left and the right of a collection of tavernas, cafes etc. To the right is organised with sunbeds. Shallow for quite a few metres out, mainly sandy. Usually reasonably calm with gentle waves unless strong winds prevailing. Crystal clear water. Car parks (free) just off the beach. The ancient church of Agios Taxiarchis is right on the beach and it is a favourite spot for yachts to moor up as well.

You cankt miss the awful building, just behind the beach, which is under construction and is defin not the best view, especially when we were coming from a boat and had to look at it.
The beach itself is small and with nice sand, crystal clear water so this is a big + :))

Away from the hustle of the rest of the island. If you go here, visit the little church. Authentic and beautiful.
