The Poudre River is a beautiful place to fish and picnic near. It offers many different spots to stop and some have facilities. The river was running a little low, but still nice.

Most of the pull offs going up the Canyon are free. There are probably Day fee picnic areas and any camping overnight is usually State owned and will most likely require a fee. All fees are very reasonable. The best time to... More

In my opinion, the Poudre is an easier drive. Not like the Big Thompson or Rocky Mountain National Park. Yes, it is a 2 lane road. I think it is less stressful. You often see Hummingbirds. Hopefully, it works for you.
