I camped at Horsetooth for a week in May. Overall, it was a reasonably good experience during the week but got way, way too crowded and noisy on the weekends. There are pit toilets near campsites or you can walk a ways to flush toilets, sinks, and (pay per use) showers. The best thing is being able to hit the... More

Love the well groomed trails and everyone was extremely friendly! I loved that we could bring the pups. Plus we took so great graduation pictures there!

If you're in Ft. Collins or on the way to Estes Park, this is yet another hidden gem in a state full of scenic drives, national and state parks. Excellent well marked trails for the new or experienced hiker or biker. The falls trail is a challenging hike which rewards you with an inspirational view where you can sit and... More

Such a beautiful place! The lake is HUGE! We did the horsetooth rock trail. It's about 3 miles one way. Most of the trial is an easy hike with some steps and incline with Boulder scrambling toward the end. We saw a bunch of deer on the trail which was nice too. There are toilets at the trailhead.

Horsetooth Reservoir is a beautiful lake for boating, hiking, picnicking, etc.. It has beautiful views and camping sites. Great coves on the lake with calm water to anchor your boat, swim and enjoy the scenery. I love Horsetooth Lake. I try to go every weekend!!

Horsetooth is a well known local landmark, which draws hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts looking to ascend this big rock visible from most vantage points in the area. However it has become much like many of the overcrowded ski areas, which pack in as many as possible regardless of the practical limitations of the space. To enhance the experience County officials... More

We did the horsetooth mountain hike and it was wonderful! Definitely a challenge once you got closer to the top but a decent challenge for moderately experienced hiker. Beautiful views!

Hiking can be short or a long hike. Great views of Fort Collins. Parking can be difficult. The parking lot can fill up on spring break day or weekends.
