Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place for hiking, biking, sailing, paddle boards, kayaks and fishing. Reservoir (Denver's drinking water) was created by flooding Dillion. Dillion has returned on one end of the reservoir and Frisco is at the other end. Both towns have plenty to offer, including bike rentals for the loops and pathways at the reservoir. Marina's in Dillion and Frisco also provide rentals for sailing, paddling, and even pontoon boats.

We took a leisurely walk on the paved pathway after exploring Frisco. The water level was down, but that didn't stop boaters on the lake. With mountains as a backdrop, it made for a relaxing walk with our dogs. We were lucky enough to be treated to beautiful Fall foliage, too. Bicyclers were enjoying the path as well.

We stopped at Dillon Lake to check that out and the Ice Castles. Unfortunately, they were still working on the castles so it was closed and was only able to view it from the outside. But that was ok... next time! We drove down the street and checked ought the lake and the view was beautiful. The sun was shining and walked in some fresh snow. I took some cool pics with the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

We visited three great spots with a really beautiful view of the Dillon Reservoir:
1. Between Silverthorne and Frisco there is a scenic point right on Interstate 70, you can hear the traffic noise here but it still looked really beautiful
2. Sapphire Point Overlook; you should definitely do the short loop here, you have very "Canadian" views of the lake and there are lots of chipmunks, at the very latest here we fell in love with the Dillon Reservoir
3. Park at the Blue River Arm Trailhead and dip your feet or hands in the water (swimming is prohibited!). There is a gigantic panorama here. And people love to come here with their dogs.
I suspect that the entire lake has countless really beautiful places. I can only recommend coming here!

The lake is the best place to paddle board and kayak. With hidden coves and views to die for. There isn’t ever a bad time on the lake. Great for picnics and paddling around the numerous islands on the lake.

large man made lake with mountains surrounding it. Nice little park near the marina with picnic tables and shelters. My wife and I bring sandwiches and just enjoy the view almost every year on vacation

Beautiful location in the heart of Ski Country USA. Great hiking, fishing, boating and water sports within beautiful walking distance. Convenient to shopping and restaurants in Summit County. Minutes to several world class ski areas without the pretense of upscale resorts.

We were driving back from Breckinridge to Beaver Creek and saw this on the map. We were intrigued and the reservoir did not disappoint when we saw it in person. It’s close by the highway, but the views are majestic. Dark blue water and sweeping vistas. Definitely worth a stop, even if it’s brief.

Beautiful and peaceful place to spend time alone, love ones and or pets. Perfect location, great parking area and plenty space especially now that it's so important to keep our distances from each other. If you love nature, stop by Dillon Reservoir.

Left our hotel (BW Ptarmigan Lodge), joined the path and decided to see how far we wanted to walk. After a couple of miles we decided to keep going to Frisco and so we did - and walked back again. 12 miles in total but it was an easy walk on a very good path, with beautiful views.

Is there a public beach area at Dillon Reservoir

Renting a bike in Frisco. How long is the reservoir trail? We like trails that are easy, scenic, and paved.

I believe it's 18 miles long. And yes it's very scenic! Very easy not too hilly.

Can't help but enjoy Dillon, I know about the area but not about leaf peeping, last time I did some peeping, I spent 2 days explaining to the judge that I was just out looking at nature, and nature just had happened to be naked people. just hike around and enjoy the mountains and the breath taking scenery.

This year the best colors in in the high country will be starting Sept 15. Borass Pass out of Breckenridge is the best ever. A 2 wheel drive car can easily make the drive all the way to Como. It is a dirt rode. Or you can take the paved Guellnea Pass road from Georgetown . Best hikes out of Dillon for fall colors. Ptarmigan pass, acorn creek, aspen alley,a short hike at the start of Borras pass road. Also don’t miss seeing Issac the troll in Breckenridge it’s a short stroll to see this art masterpiece.

I’ll be coming from Buena Vista to Denver and would like to stop here for pictures. Can someone show me which spot is nice for pictures and parking space? Thanks a lot.

The best spot is the road that cutts over on the interior from Dillion to Frisco. It looks at the dam and vistas of the mountains on a clear day to the north. The actual Dam road next Dillion Brewery is an awesome view on the opposite side of the Dam and they have few pull-offs for to use.

Hello,
We will be driving to Denver from Moab tomorrow on Route 70 and would like to take a detour to the Dillon Reservoir. We will have about an hour or so to stop. Where should we exit the 70 to find parking and then be able to walk and appreciate what looks to be beautiful scenery? Thank you for your reply.
Written 16 September 2018
Take exit 205 to Hwy 6 from I-70 West, turn left or east onto Hwy 6. Go past Dillon Ridge Road, past Ruby Tuesday and Starbucks. Proceed to Dillon Dam Road. Turn right onto Dillon Dam Road. Go to turnabout and turn onto W La Bonte Street. Park wherever space is available. There's a trail along the water's edge.

There is definitely good fishing at the lake itself, I would go earlier in the day before the families come for swimming so the fish aren’t scared away
