Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This area of Santa Fe St., about 3 blocks long from 7th to 10th is known for its multitude of small independent art galleries- about 60! From beautiful, nice and well done to "what the heck?"- what makes that art? One insider trick is to go the 1st Friday of the month, there is free wine and snacks at most galleries! Wander and enjoy!

We arrived here around 6:00 pm on a First Friday in July. The scene was jumping as the sidewalks were packed from 6th until 11th ave. There are numerous collective spaces where multiple artists have the work on view, each with music and a buzzing energy. If you don't like crowds, you may not like this scene as there are tons of people in small spaces. I would highly suggest to organizers to divert traffic and open up the streets to pedestrians for a more pleasant experience. Parking is limited to residential areas. Food trucks were plentiful. The galleries were cool, but this was more about people watching and getting a sense of the local personality of Denver. First Fridays are 5:30 - 9:30 pm.

We also stopped to eat in Black Sky Brewery, a metalhead brewery and pizzeria. Excellent New Haven style pizza and good selection of brews. People come in here for a "Hot Beef Injection" (whiskey + au jus shots) for fun.... I guess... Good scene and kind of inspiring to see people with a passion run a solid business.

This is a small art district in the sense of art districts. Perhaps I'm spoiled with San Francisco or New York districts but this just seemed small. Nothing partially bad about this spot, just not overwhelmed by much here. Modern art seems to be the theme, no classics or old masters anywhere from what I could spot. Again, I may have been expecting too much and forgetting I'm in a city, but not a big city.

Sad to say but this area was deserted with many closed shops. It had a funky feel to it but we started to walk and then left as the galleries were closed and there was not really much to do.

Not sure if this was because it was during the day or due to Covid.

me and my husband read about the art district and decided to take a look at the galleries, turns out we visited on a Brunch Day and OMG this is such a cool idea!!! So the galleries are open for the public and they give you orange juice and fruit and bagels and some of them even had Mimosas! The art was magnificent, the galleries just kept getting better and better and everyone was so nice and welcoming. You can see how the artists work and see their studios, it’s an amazing experience!! We absolutely loved it

The Art District on Santa Fe is my new favorite place in Denver. Spanning a number of blocks on Santa Fe, with 8th arguably the midpoint, the district is full of colorful, architecturally interesting buildings hosting a wide variety of artists working in many different media. Many galleries are also studios and it's possible to shop or browse while viewing works in progress, or see where they were created. Prices range from very high end to eminently affordable. You can easily spend hours (and dollars!) here.

Many galleries have basement levels or back rooms, so what you see from the window outside may only be a small part of the picture.

Also scattered throughout are some antique shops, a museum, a few places to eat.

Note: many establishments have limited days of operation or hours. In particular, Mondays or Tuesdays may find some shops closed. Also note that not all galleries operate the same or cater to all audiences. Be polite and respectful of the spaces, don't just assume you can walk in and head into the basement or studio.

If you have small children in tow, exercise common sense: keep them under strict supervision unless you like paying for broken pottery. Also bear in mind that art can be provocative, may contain nudity, violent or disturbing images, etc., so gauge both the content of the gallery and the maturity of your youngsters before dragging them in.

An art district is a good complement to, or alternative from, a museum. There is more direct contact with the art. Plus, you can purchase it (and you should purchase some -- remember, if no one does, there won't be any such districts!)

We decided to go to the Art District on Santa Fe during a recent visit and we were very disappointed. We arrived about 11:00 Saturday morning and we only found one shop open. Many of the shops were empty or open by appointment only, most didn’t have any posted hours. We walked around for about 45 minutes then left.

We heard so many good things about the district so we brought my mother in law who was visiting. We arrived just before 11 and found practically every place closed. A few opened at 11, and a few more at noon, but we saw so many vacancies we just gave up and went to lunch instead. Maybe this is only a late afternoon attraction, but we were not impressed on our visit.

I walked right past the Denver Art Museum to check out this artsy district (tabbed the largest in Colorado) & instead of paying a $25 entrance fee I saw some pretty cool street art and architecture for free! The neighborhood honors its Hispanic roots and there some good food trucks you can try if you get hungry.
