This is a spectacular drive with views to match. It can be crazy on the weekends, so pick your timing. If you're not acclimated, 14,000' is going to have a big impact on your breathing!

Even when the Mount Evans Highway is closed past Echo Lake, this is a wonderful drive out of Evergreen or Idaho Springs.

There is none. It is a very worthwhile trip if you decide. Easy drive from Denver. If you decide to, go on Tue-Thur and there will much less traffic.

Depending on how busy the road is the day your visit is how fast you can make it up. If you want to hike to the top which is about 1/4 mile hike and take pictures, I would give yourself 3 hours round trip. You may be able... More

From Estes Park go onto Peak-to-Peak Highway to Idaho Springs. Idaho Springs has road to top of Mt Evans. Afterwards, go to Bergen Park/Evergreen, get on 70E to C470E to I25S to Colorado Springs. This is not an "on-the-way... More
