Mount Evans is one of two Colorado "fourteeners" (mountains 14k feet and above) that can be driven up. The road doesn't take you to the summit, but it does get you very close to it. Drivers can park and scramble the rest of the way up if they wish. The road is closed seasonally and other times when the weather... More

Mount Evans is GREAT for a picnic and short hike (or long hike) not far from Denver if you want to get into the mountains for a day. If you decide to go up the mountain trail via car you are going to be astounded by the change in flora reaching the very top! Some car commercials have shown the... More

As a landscape photographer, I've been to the top on Mt Evans many times. It's the highest paved road in North America and always an awesome experience. It's definitely worth making an effort to get there. You can make the experience even more memorable by timing your visit. Sunrise is amazing. You'll be looking down on the rising sun, a... More

Not for the faint of heart. It is really very cool being up that high. You see all kinds of mountain critters that are very rarely seen. The air is cold and fresh and the vistas are awesome. You really feel on top of the world. Up above the timberline you are faced with even higher boulders and a trail.... More

Drive 90 minutes from downtown Denver on the highest paved road in North America. See the Rockies up close and catch the 100 mile views over the heart of the Front Range. Lots of wildlife, and lots of weather - be prepared. No matter what it's like in town, it will be colder there. Be careful about lightning. The last... More

If you want to top your first 14er without having to hike miles, this is the place to go. Roadway takes to nearly to the top. You have to climb only about the last 100 yards. Of course, the views are amazing. It's a great and easy-to-get-to tourist trip.

I live right in the area of Mt. Evans. If you're visiting the Denver/Front Range area by all means give it a look. But don't be stupid. You can drive the Mt. Evans road with a good, strong vehicle. NOT a weak, questionable vehicle. You DON'T need to pay an outfit a bunch of $ to take you up there.... More

A short drive up I70 to the road to Mt Evans I think if you have not been up to 12000 ft on top of a Mountain then this would be fist, the view is to die for. At times chilly up there and windy. If you have medical condition heart or COPD then be aware of oxygen is lower there.

Driving up Mt Evans was an incredible experience. It was fairly crowded with traffic being a summer weekend but it didn't matter considering the beauty of the area. Near the top is a lake to stop at that is just stunning. At the very top is a lookout with information on the area and a path to walk to get... More
