Must experience Colorado mining tour, one of the best.

I would highly recommend the tour of the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine. The tour begins with everyone being given a hard hat. Then you get on an elevator and go down into the mine. If you are claustrophobic, this is the part that will bother you, but it is only a few minutes long. Once you are down in the... More

You start with an elevator ride in a cage which is cramped. The tour guide has working knowledge of mining and the history of mining. Very fun and informative. The demonstration of the boring tools and carts was interesting and really makes it clear how hard the work was for the gold miners.

Mollie Kathleen is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Colorado Springs. It is an especially beautiful drive during the Fall season. The Autumn colors are spectacular. I have toured the gold mine two times. I will do it again. It's is so fascinating and different. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and take time to answer all questions. The ride to get... More

According to my children, ages 10 and 12, this was the highlight of our Colorado vacation. Driving from over an hour away, I was nervous we would not make the tour since they did not take online or phone reservations....we arrived and purchased the last 4 tickets!!! If you are at all claustrophobic this is not the tour for you!... More

My husband and I enjoyed this tour so much! The tour guide Steven was so knowledgeable. His father originally worked the mines. He had a classic sense of humor. And I just enjoyed everything about it. The walk was easy. And the ride was fun too. Going down the shaft though can be a little scary! I would go again!!!!... More

First they have you wear hard hats and if you want you can put on mining clothes. They take you down on an elevator 1,000 feet which is scary. They do pack you in like sardines, I guess the more people they squeeze on the more money they make. They take you for quite a long walk thru the mine.... More

YOu start by going down a 1000 foot shaft in the same lift the miners did (and packed in like they were). The tour of the mine is conducted by someone who was an actuall miner and they give you a complete picture of what it was like, how the ore was extracted - from drilling the blast holes to... More

I have taken visitors here many times. Recently took British friend and found the whole tour even better. Nice improvements.
