As a 26year old who grew up taking family road trips to many national parks/zoos/museums/etc around the United States, this is my new favorite tour! So much fun! So adventurous going 1000 feet underground in a tiny miner's elevator! Great tour guides from family's who've grown up in the mining industry in CO. It was fantastic. I wish it was... More

This is a good time for young and old alike. We had a great time taking the tour and traveling deep into what was a working mine. Afterward we looked through the gift shop and also fed the ground squirrels. I think you will enjoy doing this activity and if it is hot going down deep in to the earth... More

I wasn't sure about this one at first but so glad we did it. Once we put on the hardhats and were lowered down into the ground in a cage our guide had us hanging on his every word. He worked the mine as well as his father and grandfather and he gave us an amazing history lesson.

What an experience!! First of all you go 1000 ft. underground to the gold mine. The tour guide was very good. He not only was a former miner of 30 years or so but also had a great sense of humor. The tour was very educational & fun! We rode in carts, in the pitch black darkness for a few... More

Been awhile since we went but from what I remember, this is the kind of Mine Tour you want to go on, it does involve going 1000 ft underground in a tight elevator, but once you get there its an experience you'll never forget.

I would highly recommend the tour of the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine. The tour begins with everyone being given a hard hat. Then you get on an elevator and go down into the mine. If you are claustrophobic, this is the part that will bother you, but it is only a few minutes long. Once you are down in the... More

You start with an elevator ride in a cage which is cramped. The tour guide has working knowledge of mining and the history of mining. Very fun and informative. The demonstration of the boring tools and carts was interesting and really makes it clear how hard the work was for the gold miners.

Mollie Kathleen is approximately 1 1/2 hours from Colorado Springs. It is an especially beautiful drive during the Fall season. The Autumn colors are spectacular. I have toured the gold mine two times. I will do it again. It's is so fascinating and different. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and take time to answer all questions. The ride to get... More

According to my children, ages 10 and 12, this was the highlight of our Colorado vacation. Driving from over an hour away, I was nervous we would not make the tour since they did not take online or phone reservations....we arrived and purchased the last 4 tickets!!! If you are at all claustrophobic this is not the tour for you!... More
