trip, but not for the faint of heart lol. If you dont like two way traffic on a single lane road (dirt) on the side of a mountain...you might pass on the adventure. Great way to head to Cripple Creek for the day. Currently closed...More

Left Cripple Creek and wanted a different, scenic route back to Colorado Springs. Phantom Canyon Road was recommended and we’re so glad! It took about two hours to complete and almost all of it was one lane dirt road. It did get dusty and difficult...More

This is a beautiful drive. I love taking roads that are "less well travelled." Yes, there are some tight curves and steep drop-offs, but you literally get to watch the ecology change from mountain pine forest, to high desert as you descend. We only had...More

A local in Cripple Creek told us about this drive. It was beautiful. We saw some of the most amazing sites ever. HOWEVER we ran out of daylight before we ran out of dangerous road, and the fog set in and then the dangerous road...More

Phantom Canyon is a gravel/dirt road that can be driven in your personal car. No 4-wheel drive needed. We have traveled the drive several times. One year we came from Canon City and finished in Cripple Creek. Or you can start in Victor and drive...More

Phantom Canyon was a very beautiful drive with scenic mountains, tunnels, Bridges. Not for those with a fear of heights. And you must drive it at 20 miles an hour or less no exceptions because it is a one-lane road that goes both ways. Several...More

Great ride from Canon City to Victor/Cripple Creek. It’s a very easy ride and can be done in a car, in fact we passed several cars along the way. There are bathroom facilities along the way so we were happy to see that. The road...More

This is a cool trail that can accommodate any car and no 4WD required. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife and some great places to drop and camp. If you come to Victor this way take the Shelf Road back for another cool drive with some...More

The aspen are just beginning to change color. On this early Friday in September we could mosey along at our own pace admiring the towering rock walls and tinges of gold in the forest. The only big game we saw were a contented group of...More

Could snow. Or be sheets of rain. Or dry. Recommend not taking it in icy conditions. Road sometimes narrows to single lane with blind curves, steep drop offs. Please check that day’s weather forecast.

I took the drive in August 2017 and didn't see much wildlife at all. Beautiful drive none the less. I would recommend Phantom Canyon.
