One can "feel" what it may have been like back in the day. Historic panels relate historical background on many of the former prisoners. A "must see" to get a feel of what the city was like back in the day1

The gal running the museum the day we were there was very friendly and a joy to talk to. Lots to look at here, and fun playing dress-up with the kids. Definitely worth a stop if you are in town!

If you're in Cripple Creek, definitely go. But, don't make a special trip. Interesting history of the area and the jail itself. Kids really enjoyed it.

We visited out of season and the museum was nearly empty. It is very good value and we were given an excellent talk about the history of the jail before going in. It is small with only 14 cells for men but they packed 6...More
