We've climbed many lighthouses around the country, enjoying them all. A short walk along a woodsy path from the parking lot brought us to this little gem. It was a sparkling day in April and not stifling hot. Entrance is free but a donation to support the upkeep is welcome. The number of folks allowed up at one time is... More

Go on a clear day when the lighthouse is open. From the bottom it doesn't look nearly as tall as it is. They only let 5-10 folks up at once but the views are worth the wait. At the top you can walk around outside for a 360 degree view, behind a railing of course. The exterior of the lighthouse... More

Visited the lighthouse in December ....it's as beautiful as I remember, part of the trail was closed because of the damage done by bark beetles making it hazardous for anyone walking the path.I did have an encounter with a Delmarva Fox squirrel while hiking up the handicapped entrance. The View is beautiful from this point.

we have senior pass, so didn't have to pay $8 to get on island. All we wanted to do was see lighthouse and there was no one else there. We did not climb and were not interested in doing so - there is a charge for it and not available this time of year anyway.

Nice lighthouse with great views of Chincoteague. There's limited parking, but the lighthouse is only a short walk from the visitor center. The lighthouse is free with admission to the wildlife refuge. Well worth the visit and the climb to the top.

Just a short hike to see this beautiful structure. It was not open to go inside when we were there but it was still cool to see and the scenery around it was beautiful. We could see the lighthouse from our campsite also which was pretty coo.

The children in our group LOVED it. The adults in our group LOVED it. The children were very excited later in the day when they saw the light flashing. Use bug spray - you may have to wait in line, as limited numbers of people are permitted in at a time. The Ranger will be able to tell you all... More
