There’s a lesser known secret to this park. If you head out on to the beach from the main parking area and walk north for about an hour or 3.5-5 miles, you will be the only people in sight. As you get this far north,...More

First time to Assateague Island, did all of the trails. The white sand is pristine, the trails are clean and the chance to see feral horses....amazing day of exercise and sights.

I live near a beach in NC and it's different. It's on a federal refuge and you have to pay to enter. It was off season but fairly decent weather, there were a few people there, some fishing, some just hanging out. We walked quite...More

My 4 children and 4 of my grandchildren came here. They loved playing in the surf! The children were racing the wves as they came into shore. It was wonderful to watch them play on the beach and in the surf.

The herds look healthy this year. My primary goal for this visit was briding. This is a great site for water fowl and shore birds. The songbirds are starting to come through as well.

What a nice hidden gem. A nice spacious area, no problem parking. Not a fan of noisy crowded areas, this is heaven. Will enjoy coming back to this beach.
